Arnold Strongman Classic
The Arnold Strongman Classic is an annual competition featuring strength athletes from all over the world, determining who is the Strongest Man in the World. Created by Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jim Lorimer and Terry Todd, it is an offshoot of the Arnold Sports Festival which takes place annually in Columbus, Ohio, USA. Widely regarded as the heaviest and the most difficult strongman competition in the world the Arnold Strongman Classic has been won only by 8 men in history. Among them, the Lithuanian Žydrūnas Savickas has won it 8 times, while the Icelander Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson and American Brian Shaw have won it 3 times each. The Greater Columbus Convention Center (GCCC) is a convention center located in Downtown Columbus, Ohio, United States, along the east side of North High Street. The convention center was predominantly designed by Peter Eisenman, constructed in 1993, and expanded in 1999 and again in 2016. Mikhail Vasilyevich Shivlyakov (russian: Михаил Васильевич Шивляков; born 30 April 1980) is a former Russian Marine currently competing as a professional strongman. Early life Shivlyakov was born on April 30, 1980 in the city of Kiselyovsk, Kemerovo Region. In 1998-2000 he served in the Baltic Fleet, in the Black Sea Fleet, in the marines. Mateusz Kieliszkowski (born 12 August 1993) is a Polish strongman competitor. He is particularly known for his impressive pressing ability within strongman, as well as his prowess in the Atlas Stones and various moving events. Mike Burke (strongman)
Mike Burke (born June 14, 1974) is an American professional strongman competitor from Aurora, Colorado. Mike won the 2012 All-American Strongman Challenge in January 2012. This victory qualified him for the 2012 Arnold Strongman Classic and he finished in 5th place. Burke placed third at the Giants Live event in Melbourne, Australia on March 17, 2012. This placing qualified Burke for the 2012 World's Strongest Man contest, however, he failed to make the finals. Just one day after the 2012 World's Strongest Man contest, Burke competed in the 2012 America's Strongest Man contest and took first place. Vytautas Lalas
Vytautas Lalas (born 21 July 1982) is a Lithuanian professional strongman the winner of the 2013 Arnold Strongman Classic and runner up of the 2012 World's Strongest Man. Strongman Lalas won the junior Lithuanian championships in 2005, and Lithuania's Strongest Man in 2010. Lalas won the Giants Live Poland event on 8 August 2010. This victory qualified Lalas for the 2010 World's Strongest Man competition in Sun City, South Africa, but he was unable to qualify for the finals. Lalas placed third in the 2011 Giants Live London event in March 2011, this placing qualified him for the 2011 World's Strongest Man contest later that year in Wingate, North Carolina. Mikhail Viktorovich Koklyaev (russian: Михаил Викторович Кокляев, born 17 December 1978) is a Russian weightlifter, strongman competitor, powerlifter and boxer. He is married and has two children. Strongman Koklyaev has placed third place at the Arnold Strongman Classic in 2006, 2008 and 2013, as well as second in 2009. He was a medalist of all three IFSA World Championships, finishing third in 2005, second in 2006 and second in 2007. Andrus Murumets (born 20 July 1978) is an Estonian strongman and entrant to the World's Strongest Man contest. He reached 5th in the World Rankings according to the IFSA rankings in 2008. Andrus competed in the IFSA World Championships in 2005 finishing 4th, 5th in 2006 and 5th in 2007. Andrus has competed in the Arnold Strongman Classic 3 times, his best finish was 3rd in 2007. Total Raimonds Bergmanis (born 25 July 1966) is a Latvian politician and former Minister of Defence. He is a former Olympic weightlifter and retired strongman competitor. Athletic career Bergmanis was part of the Latvian Olympic Weightlifting team, and has set 21 Latvian records. He is a three-time Olympian (1992, 1996 and 2000). In 1992, he carried the Latvian flag at the opening ceremony, the first person to do so since 1936 when independent Latvia last participated in a Summer Olympiad.
