Armin Delong
Armin Delong (29 January 1925, Bartovice, Czechoslovakia – 5 October 2017, Brno) was a Czechoslovak physicist. He was the founder of electron microscopy in the former Czechoslovakia. In 1990, he served briefly as a Minister in the Czechoslovak government of Prime Minister Marián Čalfa. Bartovice
Bartovice ( pl, Bartowice, german: Bartelsdorf) is a part of the city of Ostrava, Moravian-Silesian Region in the Czech Republic. Administratively it is a part of the district of Radvanice a Bartovice. Bartovice was formerly an independent municipality, in 1960 it became a part of Ostrava. History The village was first mentioned in a Latin document of Diocese of Wrocław called '' Liber fundationis episcopatus Vratislaviensis'' from around 1305 as ''item in Bertoltowitz''. It meant that the village was in the process of location (the size of land to pay tithe from was not yet precised). The creation of the village was a part of a larger settlement campaign taking place in the late 13th century on the territory of what will be later known as Upper Silesia. Electron Microscopy
An electron microscope is a microscope that uses a beam of accelerated electrons as a source of illumination. Marián Čalfa
Marián Čalfa (born 7 May 1946, in Trebišov) is a Slovak former politician, who served as prime minister of Czechoslovakia during and after the Velvet Revolution in 1989, as well as de facto acting President for 19 days. He was a key figure in the smooth transfer of power from Communist rule to democracy. Career From 1985, Čalfa worked as the head of a legislative department of the Czechoslovak federal government. In April 1988, he became the chairman of the legislative committee. On 10 December 1989, during the Velvet Revolution, he was appointed Prime Minister in place of discredited Ladislav Adamec. Although Čalfa was a member of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia (KSČ), this government had a non-Communist majority.
