Armi Elää!
''Armi elää!'' is a 2015 Finnish drama film directed by Jörn Donner. The film is based on the life of Finnish entrepreneur Armi Ratia through years 1949–1968 when she founded the textile and clothing company Marimekko and led it to international success. Written in a form of metafiction, the film follows a theatre group preparing a play of Ratia. In March 2016 the film received two Jussi Awards, for screenplay by Karoliina Lindgren and scenic design by Otso Linnalaakso. Jörn Donner
Jörn Johan Donner (5 February 1933 – 30 January 2020) was a Finnish writer, film director, actor, producer, politician and founder of Finnish Film Archive. Biography Born into the Donner family of German descent, Jörn Donner was the son of the linguist Kai Donner and the grandson of linguist and politician Otto Donner. He lived and worked for long periods in Sweden, and served as director of the Swedish Film Institute. In 1979, he was a member of the jury at the 29th Berlin International Film Festival. Internationally Jörn Donner was best known as the producer of Ingmar Bergman's film ''Fanny and Alexander'' (, 1982). In 1984 the movie won a total of four Academy Awards including the award for best foreign language film, making him to date the only Finn to receive an Oscar. She has won two Jussi Awards; one for the best actress in a supporting role for a 1999 Veikko Aaltonen film ''Rakkaudella Maire'', and another in 2009 for the best actress in a leading role for ''Kuulustelu'', directed by Jörn Donner. Haapkylä was married to actor Hannu-Pekka Björkman from 2002 to 2014. They have two sons. Since 2014, she has been in a relationship with actress Joanna Haartti. Marimekko
Marimekko Oyj is a Finnish textiles, clothing, and home furnishings company founded by Viljo and Armi Ratia in Helsinki in 1951. Marimekko made important contributions to fashion in the 1960s. It is particularly noted for its brightly colored printed fabrics and simple styles, used both in women's garments and in home furnishings. The Jussi Awards are Finland's premier film industry prizes, awarded annually to recognize the achievements of directors, actors, and writers. History The first Jussi Awards ceremony was held on 16 November 1944 at the Restaurant Adlon in Helsinki. The award is one of the oldest films awards in Europe. The original planned name for the prize was ''Aino'', but Jussi won in the end. The name comes from a character in the 1924 and 1936 Pohjalaisia films. The awards were originally organized by the ''Elokuvajournalistit'' organization, but the task was transferred in the early 1960s to the ''Filmiaura'' organization, composed of around 300 members working in the Finnish film industry.
