The 2004 Armenian Premier League season was the thirteenth since its establishment. It was contested by 8 teams, and Pyunik FC won the championship. No team was relegated this season, because the Football Federation of Armenia decided to increase the number of teams in the Armenian Premier League, premier league from 8 to 9 for the Armenian Premier League 2005, 2005 season. Armenian Premier League
The Armenian Premier League ( hy, VBET Հայաստանի Պրեմիեր Լիգա, known as the VBET Armenian Premier League for sponsorship reasons) is the top association football, football competition in Armenia. From 1936 to 1991, the competition was held as a regional tournament within the USSR. After independence, the Football Federation of Armenia has been the unit in charge. Over the years, the league has evolved into a small league consisting of ten teams. The winner of the league is awarded a spot in the first qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League. Armenian Premier League 2005
The 2005 Armenian Premier League season was the fourteenth since its establishment, and started on 12 April 2005. The last matches were played on 6 November 2005. FC Pyunik were the defending champions. Participating teams *Lernayin Artsakh FC from Yerevan are promoted. *FC Kotayk from Abovyan changed their name to Esteghlal-Kotayk. 2004 Armenian First League
The 2004 Armenian First League season started on 1 May 2004. The last matches were played on 15 November 2004. Pyunik-2 became the league champions, but because they are a reserve team they were unable to promote to the Armenian Premier League. As a result, the second placed team Lernayin Artsakh FC was given promotion. Overview * Araks Ararat FC and Lernayin Artsakh FC were relegated and withdrew from the Armenian Premier League respectively. * Dinamo FA Yerevan were renamed as Dinamo Yerevan * Spartak Yerevan FC became the reserve team of FC Banants and as a result were named Banants-2 * FC Zenit Charentsavan and FC Dinamo-VZ Yerevan are the reserve teams of Dinamo-Zenit Yerevan. * FC Ararat Yerevan was expelled from the Premier League in 2003, so they restarted the 2004 season in the First League. * Reserve teams, such as Pyunik-2, cannot be promoted. Football Club Shirak ( hy, Շիրակ Ֆուտբոլային Ակումբ), commonly known as Shirak, is an Armenian professional sports club based in Gyumri. Shirak is known for its professional football team which is one of the oldest football clubs in Armenia, having been created in 1958. The club is the only team that participated in all seasons of the Armenian Premier League since its creation in 1992 until 2021. Shirak is one of the more successful clubs in Armenia, having won a total of 11 domestic titles including four Armenian Premier League titles, two Armenian Cup, and five Armenian Super Cup. Samvel Melkonyan ( hy, Սամվել Մելքոնյան, born on 15 March 1984 in Yerevan, Armenian SSR, Soviet Union) is an Armenian former footballer who played as a winger. Samvel was also a member of the Armenia national football team, participated in 29 international matches since his debut at home 2006 World Cup qualification match against the Netherlands on 3 September 2005. Club career Samvel began his professional career playing for Spartak Yerevan. When Spartak merged with Banants, Samvel Melkonyan automatically transferred to Banants. Armen Andranik Shahgeldyan ( hy, Արմեն Անդրանիկի Շահգելդյան; born 28 August 1973) is an Armenian football manager and former player who is currently the manager of Armenian club Sevan FC.
