Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra
The Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra (''ANPO'') (Armenian: Հայաստանի ազգային ֆիլհարմոնիկ նվագախումբ) is the national orchestra of Armenia. It was founded in 1925 as a symphony orchestra of the Yerevan State Conservatory. Now it performs in Khachaturian Hall, Yerevan. Over the years, conductors Arshak Adamian, Alexander Spendiarian, Ohan Durian, Valeri Gergiev, Loris Tjeknavorian, etc. directed the orchestra. Since its foundation, the orchestra has performed most of the classical repertoire. Many famous artists as David Oistrach, Sviatoslav Richter, Mstislav Rostropovich, David Geringas, Boris Berezovsky, Ian Gillan have appeared with the orchestra. Aram Khachaturian, Dmitri Kabalevsky and others have conducted their works at the APO. More than 30 CDs have been released with the APO recordings. Dmitri Kabalevsky
Dmitry Borisovich Kabalevsky (russian: Дми́трий Бори́сович Кабале́вский ; 14 February 1987) was a Soviet composer, conductor, pianist and pedagogue of Russian gentry descent. He helped set up the Union of Soviet Composers in Moscow and remained one of its leading figures during his lifetime. He was a prolific composer of piano music and chamber music; many of his piano works were performed by Vladimir Horowitz. He is best known in Western Europe for his Second Symphony, the "Comedians' Galop" from '' The Comedians'' Suite, Op. 26 and his Third Piano Concerto. Life Kabalevsky was born in Saint Petersburg in 1904, but moved to Moscow at a young age. Constantine Saradjian
Konstantin Saradzhev (also ''Constantin Saradgeff'', born Saradzhian; 8 October 1877 – 22 July 1954) was an Armenian conductor and violinist. He was an advocate of new Russian music, and conducted a number of premieres of works by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Modest Mussorgsky, Igor Stravinsky, Sergei Prokofiev, Nikolai Myaskovsky, Dmitri Shostakovich, and Aram Khachaturian. His son Konstantin Konstantinovich Saradzhev was a noted bell ringer and musical theorist. Biography He was born Konstantin Solomonovich Saradzhian in Derbent, Dagestan, in 1877; his father was a doctor. David Khanjyan (Khanjian) (July 30, 1940 - February 1981) was a Soviet Armenian conductor and pianist. Khanjian was born in the family of Hakob Khanjian and Tatevik Sazandaryan. He finished the piano department of Yerevan State Conservatory, then entered to conduction department of the same conservatory. Then he studied Hans Swarowsky in the Vienna Music Academy. Valery Gergiev
Valery Abisalovich Gergiev (russian: Вале́рий Абиса́лович Ге́ргиев, ; os, Гергиты Абисалы фырт Валери, Gergity Abisaly fyrt Valeri; born 2 May 1953) is a Russian conductor and opera company director. In 1988 he became general director and artistic director of the Mariinsky Theatre and artistic director of the White Nights Festival in St. Petersburg. He was chief conductor of the Munich Philharmonic from September 2015 until he was dismissed on 1 March 2022. Early life Gergiev was born in Moscow.
