Armen Martirosyan (musician)
Armen Martirosyan (Armenian Արմեն Մարտիրոսյան; born 18 February 1963, in Yerevan) is an Armenian musician and composer. Biography His first music lessons were given in his early childhood by his grandmother, who taught him the rudiments of the notes. At the same time, his parents introduced him to different genres of musical art (ballet, opera and concerts of symphonic music). In 1970, aged seven, he entered the well-known music school being already familiar with the notes, having perfect pitch and a sense of rhythm. Teachers noticed the absolute composing abilities and rare intuition for performing musical composition. In 1978, aged fourteen, he met Edvard Mirzoyan, the Chairman of the Composers’ Union of Armenia. Al Jarreau
Alwin Lopez Jarreau (March 12, 1940 – February 12, 2017) was an American singer and musician. His 1981 album '' Breakin' Away'' spent two years on the ''Billboard'' 200 and is considered one of the finest examples of the Los Angeles pop and R&B sound. The album won Jarreau the 1982 Grammy for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance. In all, he won seven Grammy Awards and was nominated for over a dozen more during his career. Jarreau also sang the theme song of the 1980s television series ''Moonlighting'', and was among the performers on the 1985 charity song "We Are the World." The Eurovision Song Contest 2010 was the 55th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. Anahit (2014 Film)
''Anahit'' is a 2014 Armenian traditionally animated fantasy film directed by Davit Sahakyants, based on a screenplay by Davit, Naira Sahakyants and Lyulya Sahakyants (who also acted as co-director). The screenplay was based on the 1881 fairytale of the same name by Ghazaros Aghayan. The soundtrack was composed by Armen Martirosyan and Vardan Zadoyan. Produced by Robert Sahakyants Production, ''Anahit'' was released in Armenian cinemas on 27 December 2014. Production The film was funded by the Ministry of Culture of Armenia, and animated using traditional drawing animation combined with 3D computer-animation. In February 2013, there were 25 minutes left to animate. Director Davit Sahakyants stated that the financing provided the Ministry was enough for 20 minutes of animation per year. Armenian Jazz
Yerevan's first jazz band was formed in 1936, by composer and trumpeter Tsolak Vardazaryan. In 1938, composer Artemi Ayvazyan founded the Armenian State Jazz Orchestra, the first in the Soviet Union. The orchestra's first drummer Robert Yolchyan became an important artist of Soviet and Armenian jazz, developing his own style over time and continuing to play and give master-classes until his death in early 2000s. Other jazz bands were founded in Nairi Cinema, Yerevan Park of Communars, and others. In 1954, Konstantin Orbelyan organized an Estrada quintet for Armenian Radio. In 1966, young composer Martin Vardazaryan founded the Estrada Orchestra, renamed in the 1970s as the Estrada Symphonic Orchestra under the direction of Melik Mavisakalyan and Yervand Yerznkyan.
