The Armed Forces of the Czech Republic ( cs, Ozbrojené síly České republiky) are the military forces of the Czech Republic. They consist of the Army of the Czech Republic ( cs, Armáda České republiky), the Military Office of the President of the Republic and the Castle Guard, as defined by the Act No. 219/1999, on the Armed Forces of the Czech Republic. The current supreme commander of the Armed Forces of the Czech Republic is President of the Republic Miloš Zeman. The term Armed Forces of the Czech Republic is defined by law. Miloš Zeman
Miloš Zeman (; born 28 September 1944) is a Czech politician serving as the third and current President of the Czech Republic since 2013. He previously served as the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic from 1998 to 2002. As leader of the Czech Social Democratic Party during the 1990s, he is credited with the revival of the party into one of the country's major political forces. Zeman briefly served as the President of the Chamber of Deputies from 1996 to 1998. The Prague Castle Guard or simply the Castle Guard ( cs, Hradní stráž) is a specific and autonomous unit of the Armed Forces of the Czech Republic directly subordinate to the Military Office of the President of the Czech Republic. Its main task is to guard and defend the seat of the President of the Czech Republic at the Prague Castle. Although its most visible activity comprises ceremonial duty within the Prague Castle, most of the unit's 650 soldiers are tasked with actual protection of compounds belonging to the Presidential Office, whereby they serve in standard uniforms armed with modern weaponry. The Military Office of the President of the Czech Republic, MOPR (Czech: Vojenská kancelář prezidenta republiky, VKPR) is the official military department of the Office of the President of the Czech Republic. It serves as a separate entity of the Armed Forces of the Czech Republic from the Army of the Czech Republic and the Prague Castle Guard, although it controls most of the activities of the Castle Guard. It mostly fulfils tasks by order of the President of the Czech Republic, in accordance with Section 26 of Act No. 219, which describes the president in his/her authority as commander in chief being the superior to the Chief of Staff of the Military Office (currently Major General Radek Hasala). Jana Černochová (born 26 October 1973) is a Czech politician, serving as Czech Minister of Defence in the Cabinet of Petr Fiala since December 2021. She has been a member of the Czech parliament since 2010, representing the Civic Democratic Party (ODS). Biography Černochová graduated from high school in 1992 and began working in a bank. She later studied international relations at the Metropolitan University Prague.
