Armed Forces Medical Service Department (Egypt)
The Medical Services Department of the Armed Forces and the Egyptian Army Medical Corps are the departments responsible for the hospitals and medical facilities of the Egyptian Armed Forces including the Army medical schools. History The need for Army medical services became apparent to Muhammad Ali during a campaign due to mass attrition. The French doctor, Antoine Clot, became the Chief Doctor of the Army. Clot persuaded Ali to established the first Army School of Medicine in Abu Zaabal in 1827. The first of its kind in the region, it was later expanded with Pharmacy and Midwifery schools. In the war in Afghanistan, the Medical Corps opened the Egyptian Field Hospital at Bagram in Afghanistan to treat civilians. Large number of military hospitals are active across Egypt. Many of these centers accept civilian patients. Menoufia
Monufia Governorate ( ar, محافظة المنوفية ' ) is one of the governorates of Egypt. It is located in the northern part of the country in the Nile Delta, to the south of Gharbia Governorate and to the north of Cairo. The governorate is named after Menouf, an ancient city which was the capital of the governorate until 1826. The current governor (as of 2018) is Said Mohammed Mohammed Abbas. Municipal divisions The governorate is divided into municipal divisions, with a total estimated population as of July 2017 of 4,319,082. In some instances there is a markaz and a kism with the same name. Population According to population estimates in 2015, the majority of residents in the governorate lived in rural areas, with an urbanization rate of only 20.6%. Out of an estimated 3,941,293 people residing in the governorate, 3,128,460 people lived in rural areas as opposed to only 812,833 in urban areas. Damanhur ( ar, دمنهور ', ; Egyptian: ''Dmỉ-n-Ḥr.w''; cop, ⲡϯⲙⲓⲛ̀ϩⲱⲣ '; ; grc, Ἑρμοῦ πόλις μικρά ') is a city in Lower Egypt, and the capital of the Beheira Governorate. Etymology Damanhur was known in the ancient Egyptian language as ''The City of (the god) Horus'', on the grounds that it was a center for the worship of this god. New Cairo
New Cairo ( ar, القاهرة الجديدة ' is an Egyptian city covering an area of about on the southeastern edge of Cairo Governorate, 25 kilometres (15 mi) from Maadi. New Cairo is one of the new cities which have been built in and around Cairo to alleviate the congestion in downtown Cairo. It was established in the year 2000 by presidential decree number 191. Located in what was formerly Helwan Governorate, and located to the east of Maadi and Heliopolis, New Cairo ranges in elevation between above sea level.
