Armando Castaingdebat
Armando Castaingdebat Colombo (born 25 October 1959 in Trinidad, Uruguay) is a Uruguayan veterinarian and political figure of the National Party. Graduating from the University of the Republic with a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine, he has been a member of the National Party since the late 1980s. A significant factor in the political work of Castaingdebat is the sizeable agricultural interests which are present in the economic and labour-related life of Flores Department. Political career In the 2005 municipal elections, Walter Echeverría was elected Intendant of Flores, however, he died before he took office. Therefore, Castaingdebat took over as the first substitute. He was reelected to the office in the 2010 election. He served as President of the National Congress of Intendants between 2013 and 2014. Pablo Bartol
Pablo Bartol (born 20 November 1965) is an Uruguayan social entrepreneur, lecturer and politician who served as Minister of Social Development from March 1, 2020 to May 1, 2021. Graduated from the University of the Republic in 1989, he has a Bachelor's Degree in International Relations and a Master's in Business Administration and Organizational Government from the University of Montevideo and the University of Navarra, respectively. 2019 Uruguayan General Election
General elections were held in Uruguay on Sunday, 27 October 2019 to elect the President and General Assembly. As no presidential candidate received a majority in the first round of voting, a runoff election took place on 24 November. In the 2014 elections, the left-wing Broad Front had won a third consecutive election with absolute majorities in both houses of the General Assembly. The Broad Front's term in office еarned support through the creation of a large welfare system, but at the same time was undermined by an increasing budget deficit, along with rising unemployment and a spike in violence. The election campaign focused primarily around the issue of crime, with each party proposing different solutions. A constitutional referendum on amendments proposed by opposition senator Jorge Larrañaga was held alongside the elections. The politics of Uruguay abide by a presidential representative democratic republic, under which the President of Uruguay is both the head of state and the head of government, as well as a multiform party system. The president exercises executive power and legislative power and is vested in the two chambers of the General Assembly of Uruguay. The Judiciary is independent from the executive and legislature. Uruguay consists of 19 departments (''departamentos''). Each department has a legislature called a Departmental Board. The ''Intendente'' is the department's chief executive. History The first division of the Republic into six departments occurred on 27 January 1816. In February of the same year, two more departments were formed, and in 1828 one more was added. When the First Constitution was signed in 1830, there were nine departments. Andrés Scotti Ponce de León (born 14 December 1975) is a Uruguayan former professional footballer who played as centre-back and rarely as left-back. Between 2006 and 2013, he made 40 appearances and scored one goal for the Uruguay national team Club career Early career Scotti was born in Montevideo, but grew up in Trinidad, capital of Flores Department. He started his career playing football for the local village team Independiente in 1993, when he was between 17 and 18 years old.
