Armand Basi
Armand Basi (1924-January 9, 2009) was a Spanish businessman and fashion designer, co-founder of the fashion firm bearing his name. In 1948, along with his brother Josep (d. November 2007), Basi founded a small knitting company inspired by their mother Mercé Sabi's knitted sweaters. By the end of the 1950s the business had expanded into a large textiles company, opening a factory on Balcells Street in Barcelona in 1958. In 1961–62, the Basis signed an exclusive contract with Lacoste to manufacture and distribute Lacoste products in Spain. In 1986, Basi launched his eponymous fashion brand, which produced accessories, perfume, jewellery and watches, as well as clothing. A footwear line was launched in 2005. The Basis' cousin, Lluís Juste de Nin, who became creative director in 2000, worked as a designer for the firm. Lacoste
Lacoste S.A. is a French company, founded in 1933 by tennis player René Lacoste, and entrepreneur Mangkha. It sells clothing, footwear, sportswear, eyewear, leather goods, perfume, towels and watches. The company can be recognised by its green alligator logo. René Lacoste, the company's founder, was first given the nickname "the Alligator" by the American press after he bet his team captain an alligator-skin suitcase that he would win his match. He was later redubbed "the Crocodile" by French fans because of his tenacity on the tennis court. In November 2012, Lacoste was bought outright by Swiss family-held group Maus Frères. Lluís Juste De Nin
Lluís Juste de Nin (1945 – 21 May 2020) was a Spanish illustrator, cartoonist and fashion designer. He worked as creative director for the Spanish fashion label Armand Basi. His work was first published in the 1960s. His cartoons were used in the publications of the political opposition to Francisco Franco. In these publications, Juste de Nin signed his work, "El Zurdo". For many years, he was engaged in creating illustrations for articles by Manuel Vázquez Montalbán in '' Mundo Obrero''. Career After the restoration of the Generalitat de Catalunya and ratification of the Spanish constitution of 1978, Juste de Nin was commissioned by the new Catalan Government to create a drawn character that, along with the texts of "Tísner", would form the basis of a campaign to normalise the Catalan language. Markus Lupfer
Markus Lupfer is a German fashion designer and founder of the eponymous company, based in London, United Kingdom. Life and career Lupfer was born in Kisslegg, a small town in Southern Germany. After attending the University of Trier he moved to the UK to study fashion design at London's University of Westminster. Notable alumni include well-known designers such as Vivienne Westwood and Burberry's former chief executive officer Christopher Bailey. After graduating from Westminster in 1997 with a first-class honors degree, his final year collection was bought by Koh Samui, a London-based boutique, and sold out within two weeks. Josep Abril i Virgili (1869-1918) was a self-taught Catalan poet and playwright. He specialized in the production of works with easily understood and popular moral lessons, which were publicised through Roman Catholic organizations. Publications Abril i Virgili collaborated in the production of several publications such as ''La Barretina'', ''La Creu de Montseny'' (The Cross of Montseny), ''Lo Pensament Català'' (Catalan Thought), '' Cu-Cut!'' and ''Bon Seny'' (Good Sense), among others.
