Arizona's 28th Legislative District
Arizona's 28th Legislative District (LD28) is one of 30 in the state, situated in central Maricopa County. The district is composed of the town of Paradise Valley and much of North Central Phoenix, including the Arcadia, Biltmore, and Sunnyslope neighborhoods. As of 2021, there are 57 precincts in the district, with a total registered voter population of 150,713. The district's overall population is 234,609. Political representation For the 2021–2022 Legislative Session, District 28 is represented by Christine Marsh (D) in the State Senate and by Kelli Butler (D) and Sarah Liguori (D) in the House of Representatives. Christine Marsh
Christine Porter Marsh is an American politician and public school teacher from Arizona. She was elected to the state senate in 2020. A Democrat, she was first elected to represent district District 28, and later District 4, after redistricting. She won by 497 votes (50.2%) against incumbent Kate Brophy McGee in an election with more than 120,000 votes cast. Marsh previously ran against Brophy McGee in 2018 and lost by 267 votes (49.9%). Christine Marsh taught high school English at Chaparral High School for 27 years, before leaving to teach in the Cave Creek Unified School district for two years. In 2019 and she returned to Scottsdale Unified School District and in 2021 started her 30th year of teaching. In 2016, Marsh was named Arizona's Teacher of the Year. Marsh received undergraduate degree from the University of California Los Angeles after attending on a track scholarship. The Phoenix Union High School District is a high school-only school district in Phoenix, Arizona, United States. It is one of five high school-only districts in the Phoenix area. Overview The school district serves students within a area of Phoenix, and 27,761 students are enrolled within its 20 schools. Its boundaries are largely coextensive with what was the city of Phoenix prior to the 1960s. The school is a minority-majority district, with 81.7% of its students being identified as "Hispanics", and 52.4% of its students speaking Spanish at home. Chaparral High School is a public high school located in Scottsdale, Arizona, in the United States. Its mascot is the firebird, and the school colors are black, red, and gold. Chaparral opened in February 1973 with 800 students, comprising freshman, sophomore, and junior classes. The principal was Spencer Saunders Sr. The initial structures were built at a cost of $3.5 million. Chaparral's first graduates were the class of 1974. Thunderbird High School is a public high school located in northwestern Phoenix, Arizona. The school is a part of the Glendale Union High School District. Feeder schools Some schools in the Washington Elementary School District feed into Thunderbird High School. Feeder junior high schools include Mountain Sky Junior High School and Cholla Middle School. History The school opened in 1972. Greenway High School opened the following year; both schools feature the same architectural blueprints. Shadow Mountain High School is a public high school located in the north valley of Phoenix, Arizona. The school is part of the Paradise Valley Unified School District.
