The Aripuanã State Forest ( pt, Floresta Estadual do Aripuanã) is a State forest in the state of Amazonas, Brazil. Location The Aripuanã State Forest is in the municipality of Apuí, Amazonas. The forest is bounded by the border with the state of Mato Grosso to the south, the Aripuanã Sustainable Development Reserve to the east and the Guariba Extractive Reserve to the west. The Paxiúba River, a tributary of the Aripuanã River enters the forest from the south and flows across it in a northerly direction. The Paxiubinha River rises in the forest and joins the Paxiúba River on the northern boundary of the forest. Apuí
Apuí is a municipality located in the Brazilian state of Amazonas. Its population was 22,359 (2020) and its area is 54,240 km2. Gold rush The municipality shot to fame in December 2006, when a Brazilian maths teacher by the name of Ivani Valentim da Silva posted descriptions of miners scooping up thousands of dollars in gold in the area. In just three months, between 3,000 and 10,000 people poured into the area, cutting down trees, diverting streams and digging wildcat mines. The ''Bararati Sustainable Development Reserve ( pt, Reserva de Desenvolvimento Sustentável Bararati) is a sustainable development reserve in the state of Amazonas, Brazil. The Apuí Mosaic ( pt, Mosaico do Apuí) is a protected area mosaic in the state of Amazonas, Brazil. Location The Apuí Mosaic is divided between the municipalities of Apuí (91.85%) and Novo Aripuanã (8.15%) in the state of Amazonas. It covers an area of . The mosaic is accessible by air to Apuí, by land via the BR-230 Trans-Amazonian Highway or by boat via the Madeira River to the city of Novo Aripuanã and then to the conservation units via the Aripuanã River.
