Arild Formoe
Arild Formoe (May 4, 1912 – December 2, 2006) was a Norwegian accordion player and orchestra conductor throughout the 20th century. Life and work Formoe was born in Modum Modum is a municipality in Buskerud in Viken county, Norway. The administrative centre of the municipality is the town of Vikersund. He debuted as a soloist on Norwegian radio in 1934. In 1938 he founded the Rytmen (Rhythm) Orchestra together with the fiddler Gunvald Winaasen, bass player Arvid Gunnerud, and guitarist Knut Eriksen. In 1944 he was employed by Harald Henschien's accordion factory in Hønefoss. Henschien started an accordion studio in Hønefoss with teaching across the country. Modum
Modum is a municipality in Buskerud in Viken county, Norway. The administrative centre of the municipality is the town of Vikersund. The municipality of Modum was established on 1 January 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt). The area has a long tradition of skiing with several famous skiers. Harald Henschien
Harald Trygve Henschien (May 6, 1902 – June 21, 1968) was an accordionist, composer, accordion manufacturer, editor, and the founder of the music magazine ''Rytme'' (Rhythm). He started his career as a performing musician at age 13 and became a prominent figure in Norwegian accordion and popular music. Background Harald Henschien was born at the Øvre Hoen farm in Øvre Eiker in Buskerud county. He was the son of Theodor Catrinus Henschien (1855–1919) and Helga Hallstensdatter Gullingsrud (1872–1954) from the village of Bromma in the municipality of Nes. Career After several tours with various artists, Henschien came to Hønefoss in the municipality of Ringerike in 1924, where he settled and founded the Henschien Music Company (''Henschiens musikkfirma''). Hønefoss
__NOTOC__ Hønefoss is a town and the administrative center of the municipality of Ringerike in Buskerud county, Norway. Hønefoss is an industrial center of inner Østlandet, containing several factories and other industry. As of 1 January 2008, Hønefoss has 14,177 inhabitants. In 1852, Hønefoss received town status and was separated from Norderhov. In 1964, Hønefoss ceased being a separate municipality and became part of Ringerike. Etymology The town is named after Hønefossen, a waterfall on the Begna River. King's Medal Of Merit
The King's Medal of Merit (Norwegian: ''Kongens fortjenstmedalje'') is a Norwegian award. It was instituted in 1908 to reward meritorious achievements in the fields of art, science, business, and public service. It is divided in two classes: gold and silver. The medal in gold is rewarded for extraordinary achievements of importance to the nation and society. The medal in silver may be awarded for lesser achievements. The medal is suspended from a ribbon in the colours of the Royal Standard of Norway. The medal in gold is ranked eighth in the ranking of Norwegian orders and medals.
