Concepción Arenal
Concepción Arenal Ponte ( Ferrol, 31 January 1820 – Vigo, 4 February 1893) was a graduate in law, thinker, journalist, poet and Galician dramatic author within the literary Realism and pioneer in Spanish feminism. Born in Ferrol, Galicia, she excelled in literature and was the first woman to attend university in Spain. She was also a pioneer and founder of the feminist movement in Spain. Life Her father, Ángel del Arenal y de la Cuesta, was a liberal military officer who was often imprisoned for his ideology and opposition to the regime of Ferdinand VII. He fell ill in prison and died in 1829, when Concepción was aged 9. She moved to Armaño (Cantabria) with her mother, María Concepción Ponte Mandiá Tenreiro, and then to Madrid in 1834, to attend the school of the Count of Tepa. Lake Arenal
Lake Arenal ( es, Lago Arenal) is a lake which is situated in the northern highlands of Costa Rica. It is currently the largest lake in Costa Rica at . Its depth varies between 30 and 60 meters (100–200 feet) seasonally. The town of Arenal was relocated to higher ground when the lake was expanded in 1979. The old towns of Arenal and Tronadora now lie abandoned at the bottom of the lake, with the new town of Arenal existing to the northeast on the lake. Hydroelectricity Lake Arenal was tripled in size with the construction of the Arenal dam in 1979, which exists at the eastern end of the lake. Arenal Volcano
Arenal Volcano ( es, Volcán Arenal) is an active andesitic stratovolcano in north-western Costa Rica around northwest of San José, in the province of Alajuela, canton of San Carlos, and district of La Fortuna. The Arenal volcano measures at least high. It is conically shaped with a crater in diameter. Geologically, Arenal is considered a young volcano and it is estimated to be less than 7,500 years old. It is also known as "Pan de Azúcar", "Canaste", "Volcan Costa Rica", "Volcan Río Frío" or "Guatusos Peak". The volcano was dormant for hundreds of years and exhibited 2 craters at its summit, with minor fumaroles activity, covered by dense vegetation. The Arenal Bridge (Spanish: ''Puente del Arenal'', Basque: ''Areatzako zubia'') is a reinforced concrete bridge in Bilbao, Spain. Arenal Airport is an airport serving La Fortuna, San Carlos, La Fortuna, a district in San Carlos Canton, Alajuela Province, Costa Rica. Electa Arenal, born as Elena Electa Arenal y Huerta, (May 16, 1935 – June 12, 1969) was a Mexican artist, known best as a muralist painter, and sculptor. Early life and education Elena Electa Arenal y Huerta was born on May 16, 1935, in Mexico City, Mexico into a Mexican Communist Party family, artist Elena Huerta Muzquiz and Luis Leopoldo Arenal. Her sister Sandra Arenal Huerta, was a known activist, feminist and writer. Her mother was part of the Taller de Gráfica Popular (English: "People's Graphic Workshop") and was within the Mexican artistic circle of the twentieth century. Arenal D'en Castell
Arenal d'en Castell is a small town in Es Mercadal, Menorca. It is also a start/arrival point for two stages of the Camí de Cavalls, GR 223 - Camí de Cavalls. The town has a long sandy beach and is built around the sides of the bay overlooking the sea. It mainly consists of vacation villas and apartments with a few larger hotels.
