Arena Fyn, officially known as the Jyske Bank Arena for sponsorship reasons, is a sports and concert arena in the southeastern part of the Danish city of Odense. It has an area of and can accommodate 4,000 spectators at sporting events and 5,500 at concerts, where the floor is used. Construction The agreement about the construction of Arena Fyn was made in autumn 2005 and by March 2007 the arena was finished. The price of building was 90 million Danish kroner. Use The Scottish band Travis had a concert in the arena in the October 2007. It is also used for sports, including the Nordea Danish Open. The handball HC Odense (formerly Team Odense GOG) has played their home games in the arena. The Denmark Open has been held in Arena Fyn since 2007. The sports equipment shop Stadium has sponsored the arena since June 2010. The Eurovision Song Contest 2014 was the 59th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Copenhagen, Denmark, following the country's victory at the with the song "Only Teardrops" by Emmelie de Forest. Organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster Danish Broadcasting Corporation (DR), the contest was held at B&W Hallerne, and consisted of two semi-finals on 6 and 8 May, and a final on 10 May 2014. The three live shows were presented by Danish television presenter Lise Rønne, musician Nikolaj Koppel and actor Pilou Asbæk. MGP Junior (standing for Melodi Grand Prix) is a Danish song contest for children aged 8 to 15. It originated in 2000 as a spin-off of Dansk Melodi Grand Prix, before coming the national selection for the now-extinct MGP Nordic in 2002 and from 2006 to 2009. From 2003 to 2005, MGP Junior was Denmark's national selection for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, a pan-European version of the format. The songs are performed primarily in Danish and written by the participants themselves. Dansk Melodi Grand Prix (), also known as Melodi Grand Prix or simply DMGP, is an annual music competition organised by the Danish public broadcaster Danmarks Radio (DR) since 1957, which determines the for the Eurovision Song Contest. The festival has produced three Eurovision winners and fourteen top-five placings. History With the introduction of a semi-final at the 2004 contest, and due to Denmark's absence from the 2003 contest, Denmark's 2004 representative, Tomas Thordarson, had to take part in the semi-final.
