Chaliyar River
Chaliyar River is the fourth longest river in Kerala at 169 km in length. The Chaliyar is also known as Chulika River, Nilambur River or Beypore River as it nears the sea. Pothukal, Chungathara, Nilambur, Mampad, Edavanna, Kavanoor, Perakamanna, Areekode, Kizhuparamba, Elamaram, Cheekkode, Vazhakkad, Vazhayur, Cheruvadi, Edavannappara, Mavoor, Peruvayal, Feroke and Beypore are some of the towns/villages situated along the banks of Chaliyar. Sandeep Unnikrishnan
Sandeep Unnikrishnan, AC (15 March 1977 – 28 November 2008) was an Indian Army officer, who was serving in the 51 Special Action Group of the National Security Guards on deputation. He was Martyred in action during the November 2008 Mumbai attacks. He was consequently awarded the Ashoka Chakra, India's highest peacetime gallantry award, on 26 January 2009. Early and personal life Sandeep Unnikrishnan came from a Malayali family residing in Bangalore, where they had moved from Kozhikode, Kerala. He was the only son of retired ISRO officer K. Unnikrishnan and Dhanalakshmi Unnikrishnan. Unnikrishnan attended The Frank Anthony Public School, Bangalore, graduating in 1995 in the ISC Science stream. Elathur, Kozhikode
Elathur is a part of Calicut corporation in Kozhikode district in the Indian state of Kerala. It is located about 12 km north of Kozhikode city on the National Highway 66. It is bounded by the Arabian Sea at the west and Korapuzha River (Elathur River) at the north. The Elathur River is generally considered to be the boundary between the North Malabar and South Malabar in the erstwhile district of Malabar. At the 2001 census, Elathur panchayat has a population of 41,326 with a nearly equal proportion of Hindus and Muslims. The panchayat covers an area of 13.58 km2, but a major portion of the area has been taken up by National Highway 66, the State highway, rivers and the Indian Railways. Beypore
Beypore or Beypur (formerly Beypoor) is an ancient port town and a locality town in Kozhikode district in the state of Kerala, India. It is located opposite to Chaliyam, the estuary where the river Chaliyar empties into Arabian Sea. Beypore is part of Kozhikode Municipal Corporation. The place was formerly known as Vaypura / Vadaparappanad and also as Beydary. Tippu Sultan, ruler of Mysore, named the town "Sultan Pattanam". There is a marina and a beach while ''Beypore port'' is one of the oldest ports in Kerala, which historically traded with the Middle East. Kozhikode Corporation
The Kozhikode Corporation, is the municipal corporation that administers the city of Kozhikode (Calicut), Kerala. Established in 1962, it is in the Kozhikode parliamentary constituency. The first mayor was H. Manjunatha Rao. Its four assembly constituencies are Kozhikode North (State Assembly constituency) , Kozhikode South (State Assembly constituency) , Beypore (State Assembly constituency) and Elathur (State Assembly constituency).
