Ardsley Railway Station
Ardsley railway station was situated on the Great Northern Railway between Tingley and Lofthouse and Outwood on the main line and west of Stanley on the LNER & LMS Methley Joint Railway. It was built to serve the village of East Ardsley near Wakefield in the English county of West Yorkshire. History The station was opened by the Bradford, Wakefield and Leeds Railway on 5 October 1857 as part of their Wakefield to Leeds main line. Five days later, it became a junction with the completion of a branch line to Bradford via Morley by the Leeds, Bradford and Halifax Junction Railway. Both lines soon became part of the rapidly expanding Great Northern Railway network in the area and by 1866 the opening of the jointly-owned West Riding and Grimsby Railway from Wakefield to Doncaster put the station on the main line between Leeds and London King's Cross. GCR Class 9L
The Great Central Railway 9K and 9L classes were two related classes of 4-4-2T Atlantic steam locomotives. They were both intended for suburban passenger services. After the 1923 Grouping, they served the LNER as classes C13 and C14. Their designer was John G. Robinson. The design was based on the earlier Pollitt Class 9G 2-4-2T locomotives, but with a lengthened boiler and a leading bogie to carry it. This extension of running gear also resembled an early Robinson design for the Irish Waterford, Limerick and Western Railway. All passed into British Railways service and the first was not withdrawn until 1952. Most were withdrawn between 1955 and 1959. The last examples of each class, 9K 67417 and 9L 67450, were scrapped in 1960. None were preserved. Morley is a market town and a civil parish within the City of Leeds metropolitan borough, in West Yorkshire, England. Morley is the largest town in the Borough of Leeds after Leeds itself. Outwood Railway Station
Outwood railway station is situated in the Outwood district of Wakefield in West Yorkshire, England. Outwood is the first stop on the Wakefield Line after Leeds for trains going towards Wakefield Westgate, Doncaster and Sheffield. History The original station was opened by the Bradford, Wakefield and Leeds Railway in 1858, and was originally named ''Lofthouse''. This was renamed ''Lofthouse and Outwood'' in July 1865. It closed on 13 June 1960. A different Lofthouse and Outwood station, which was on a different route, opened in 1876 and closed in 1958. The station was reopened on 12 July 1988. Beeston Railway Station (West Yorkshire)
Beeston railway station (West Yorkshire) was a railway station situated on the Great Northern Railway on the southern outskirts of Leeds, England. History Beeston railway station was south of Leeds Central and was opened by the Bradford, Wakefield and Leeds Railway in 1860. The line opened to traffic in 1857 and Beeston was opened 3 years later. The heavily engineered branch to Batley was built south of Beeston in 1890 (it crossed the Wakefield line twice and had a flying junction for Leeds bound traffic) and provided Tingley with a four way junction. The station was built in the middle of a very elongated four way junction with trains able to go north to Leeds Central via Holbeck or Bradford Exchange via Bramley. The Beeching cuts (also Beeching Axe) was a plan to increase the efficiency of the nationalised railway system in Great Britain. The plan was outlined in two reports: ''The Reshaping of British Railways'' (1963) and ''The Development of the Major Railway Trunk Routes'' (1965), written by Richard Beeching and published by the British Railways Board.
