Ardmona Football Club
The Ardmona Football Club is an Australian rules football club from the Goulburn Valley town of Ardmona, Victoria, Australia that plays in the Kyabram & District Football League. History Ardmona Football Club was established in 1920 by the local young men of Ardmona, playing in Wednesday afternoon competitions at the primary school grounds. An attempt was made in 1920 to secure a ground for the club but the deal was not brought to completion. A letter to the editor in the Shepparton Advertiser in November 1921 claimed that Ardmona needed a recreation ground for the locals to utilize. The local young men were travelling to Mooroopna to play sport. Ardmona played its first league game in the Toolamba District Association on 24 June 1922 against Toolamba. Shane Crawford
Shane Barry Crawford (born 9 September 1974) is a former Australian rules football player, television media personality and author. He played 305 senior games for the Hawthorn Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL) and won the Brownlow Medal in 1999. Crawford is currently the head coach with the Ardmona Cats. AFL career Crawford spent his childhood in Finley, New South Wales, and played his junior football with the Finley Football Club. He attended boarding school at Assumption College in Kilmore, Victoria and was selected by Hawthorn with the 13th pick in the 1991 AFL Draft. He made his debut in 1993. Crawford played 305 career AFL games. He is also a four-time All-Australian player and played in three International Rules series for Australia. He became captain of Hawthorn in 1999 and that season also won the AFL's top individual honours, the Brownlow Medal and the Leigh Matthews Trophy. Kyabram & District Football League Clubs
Kyabram is a town in north central Victoria, Australia. Kyabram is located in the centre of a rich irrigation district in the Goulburn River Valley, north of Melbourne. It is the second-largest town in the Shire of Campaspe, situated between the towns of Echuca and Shepparton and is close to the Murray River, Goulburn River, Campaspe River and Waranga Basin. As of the 2016 census the town had a population of 7,331 people and provides services to a district population of around 16,000. 1986 VFL Draft
The 1986 VFL draft was the third formal draft to provide recruitment opportunities to clubs participating in Australian rules football's elite Victorian Football League. Held on 26 November 1986 after the end of the 1986 VFL season, it consisted only of the national draft itself, without a subsequent rookie or preseason draft. It was the first draft to be held since two initial drafts in 1981 and 1982, and as drafts have been held every year since, it is considered to be the first of the modern drafts. Ray Preston (born 27 December 1930) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with South Melbourne in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Fred Payne (footballer)
Frederick Ronald Payne (born 4 February 1927) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Essendon in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Payne experienced victory in the first 14 senior games that he played, but being part of a strong Essendon squad also meant it was difficult to command regular selection and he missed out on playing in their 1949 and 1950 premiership teams. He played as both a follower and forward during his career. Originally from Ardmona, he made 16 appearances for Essendon in 1951. Payne missed both the semi-final and preliminary final with a thigh injury, but was named on the bench for the 1951 VFL Grand Final. He would end up starting the game in the forward pocket, after Essendon player John Gill had to withdraw. In 1954 he joined Hawthorn, where he played in the seconds. Shane Loveless
Shane Loveless (born 15 November 1958) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Footscray in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Loveless is best known as a prolific full-forward in country football, mostly for Victoria clubs, starting at Latrobe Valley Football League club Sale. He would continue playing across the state until the age of 46, by which time he had amassed over 2000 goals, from no less than 16 clubs. After arriving at Footscray from Sale, Loveless put together just two games in the 1979 VFL season but became their regular full-forward in 1980. He had his best run of form mid-season, with eight goals in a win over Fitzroy and another seven against South Melbourne the following week. Another eight goal haul came soon after, against Hawthorn at Western Oval, and he finished the year with 44 goals. The Ovens & King Football Netball League is a minor country Australian rules football league based in North-Eastern Victoria in the vicinity of Wangaratta and more recently Benalla. History The ''Ovens & King Football League'' was formed on the 13th of June 1903, after a handful of men met at The Bulls Head Hotel in Wangaratta to consider forming a football competition. One week later, the first matches of the Ovens & King Football Association were played. The competition changed its name to the Ovens and King Football League after the 1928 season. Kyabram & District Football League
The Kyabram District Football League (KDL) is an Australian rules football league in Victoria. It is made up of 15 teams; the most recent additions include Dookie United in 2018 and Shepparton East in 2019. The KDL is made up of smaller country town football clubs in the Goulburn Valley. The majority of these towns have a population base of around 1000 people, each of these clubs aims to field four football sides in the Senior, Reserve, Under 18 and Under 13 divisions of the KDFL as well as eight netball sides in A-Grade, B-Grade, C-Grade, C Reserve, 17 & Under, 15 & Under, 13 & Under and 11 & Under divisions, The KDL season is made up of 18 rounds in the home and away season, with each side playing 16 games, at the conclusion of the home and away season, the top six teams in each division face off in the finals series.
