The Archdeacons in the Diocese of Chelmsford are senior ecclesiastical officers in the Church of England in Essex and East London. They currently include: the Archdeacon of West Ham, the Archdeacon of Colchester and the archdeacons of Chelmsford, of Harlow, of Barking, of Stansted and of Southend. Diocese Of Chelmsford
The Diocese of Chelmsford is a Church of England diocese, part of the Province of Canterbury. The diocese covers Essex and the five East London boroughs of Barking and Dagenham, Havering, Newham, Redbridge, and Waltham Forest (most of which were part of the historic county of Essex), and is co-terminous with the boundaries of the Catholic Diocese of Brentwood. It is divided into three episcopal areas, each with its own area bishop. The diocese covers a region of around and has a population of more than 3 million; it has 463 parishes and a total of 588 churches; it is the second largest Anglican diocese in England. David Jennings (bishop)
David Willfred Michael Jennings (born 13 July 1944) was the Anglican Bishop of Warrington from 2000 until he resigned with effect from 31 October 2009. Education Jennings was educated at Radley College and trained for the priesthood at King's College London before embarking on a curacy at Walton-on-the-Hill, Liverpool. Career Jennings was made a deacon at Trinity 1967 (21 May) by Laurie Brown, Bishop of Warrington, at St Nicholas, Blundellsands and ordained a priest at Michaelmas 1968 (29 September) by Stuart Blanch, Bishop of Liverpool, at Liverpool Cathedral. Michael John Lodge (born 1 August 1953) is a retired British Anglican priest who served as Archdeacon of Southend in the Diocese of Chelmsford, 2017– 2021. Mina Smallman
Wilhelmina Tokcumboh "Mina" Smallman (born 29 October 1956) is a British retired Anglican priest and former school teacher. She served as the Archdeacon of Southend in the Diocese of Chelmsford from September 2013 until her retirement in December 2016. She was the Church of England's first female archdeacon from a black and minority ethnic background. Early life Smallman was born on 29 October 1956 in Middlesex. Her mother Catherine was of Scottish descent and her father Bill was of Nigerian heritage. John Perumbalath
John Perumbalath (born 1966) is a bishop in the Church of England who has served as Bishop of Liverpool since 2023. He had previously served as area Bishop of Bradwell (2018–2023) and Archdeacon of Barking (2013–2018), both in the Diocese of Chelmsford. Perumbalath comes from the ancient Christian community in Kerala, South India. He moved to north India for higher studies and then teaching. He was ordained in the Church of North India in 1994.
