Arabella McKenzie
Arabella McKenzie (born 1 March 1999) is an Australian rugby union player. She represents Australia at an international level and competed at the delayed 2021 Rugby World Cup in New Zealand. Early life McKenzie grew up in Lightning Ridge, New South Wales, a small outback town roughly 700 km northwest of Sydney. She completed her secondary education as a boarder at Frensham, Mittagong. According to ESPN journalist Brittany Mitchell, "McKenzie grew up with the Steeden in her hands as opposed to the Gilbert", referring to the fact that she was "a rugby league fan from a young age who dreamed of playing for the St George Dragons." She was inspired to switch to union after watching TV coverage of the Australia women's sevens team's gold-medal run at the 2016 Summer Olympics. The New South Wales Waratahs ( or ;), referred to as the Waratahs, are an Australian professional rugby union team representing the majority of New South Wales in the Super Rugby competition. The Riverina and other southern parts of the state, are represented by the Brumbies, who are based in Canberra, Australian Capital Territory (ACT). The Japan women's national rugby union team (, nicknamed Sakura Fifteen) are a national sporting side of Japan, representing them at rugby union. The side first played in 1991. History Japan made their international debut at the 1991 Women's Rugby World Cup. Since then, Japan has appeared at three other editions of the World Cup in 1994, 2002 and 2017. The team has won the Asia Rugby Women's Championship in 2015, 2016 and 2017. Japan qualified for the 2021 Rugby World Cup in New Zealand after a revision of Asia's qualification was made due to the global pandemic. 2023 Pacific Four Series
The 2023 Pacific Four Series was the third edition of the Pacific Four Series, an international women's rugby union tournament that served as one of the principal qualification routes for the top two tiers of WXV. The tournament was hosted by Spain, Australia and Canada. The series took place over three months. The first round saw Canada and the United States play the opening match in Madrid on 1 April 2023, followed by Australia hosting New Zealand on 29 June 2023 in Brisbane. The series concluded in Canada with all four teams competing over two weekends in early July for the title. 2022 Laurie O'Reilly Cup
The 2022 Laurie O'Reilly Cup was the 13th edition of the competition. The matches were played on 20 and 27 of August, with both Australia and New Zealand hosting one match each. After a two year absence due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was confirmed that the competition would return. The first test was played in Christchurch at the Orangetheory Stadium on 20 August 2022. The second test was played in a curtain raiser to the Wallabies and Springboks test in Adelaide on 27 August 2022. The Black Ferns won the first test in Christchurch with an overwhelming 52–5 score and retained the O'Reilly Cup. New Zealand Women's National Rugby Union Team
The New Zealand women's rugby union team, called the Black Ferns, represents New Zealand in women's international rugby union, which is regarded as the country's national sport. The 2022 Pacific Four Series was the second edition of the Pacific Four Series. The competition was hosted by New Zealand from 6 to 18 June. Matches were played at two of the venues which will host the delayed 2021 Rugby World Cup – The Trusts Arena in West Auckland and the Semenoff Stadium in Whangārei. Super Rugby Aupiki is a professional women's rugby union club competition in New Zealand. Its inaugural season was held in March 2022. It is a steppingstone between the Farah Palmer Cup and the Black Ferns. Aupiki translates as ‘''the ascent to the upper most realm''’. Format Initially the four teams were supposed to have three regular season matches with one home and away game, and one Super Round fixture. The top two teams at the end of the three rounds would contest the final. However, the competition was reformatted as a round robin fixture because of the impact of COVID-19.
