Aqua Velva
Aqua Velva is an American brand of grooming products targeted at men. Its best known product is the Ice Blue aftershave introduced in 1917 by the JB Williams Company. History Aqua Velva was first trademarked in 1917 by the JB Williams Company and later acquired by the Beecham Group in 1982, SmithKline Beecham in 1989, then by GlaxoSmithKline from 2000 until it was sold to Combe Incorporated in 2002. As of 2016, it is marketed by Combe Incorporated and Unilever (formerly Sara Lee Corporation, Sara Lee) in Europe. Aqua Velva products include Classic Ice Blue, Ice Sport, and Musk as well as Original Sport (sold only in Canada). The Classic Ice Blue serves as the original version of Aqua Velva. Aftershave
Aftershave is a product applied to skin after shaving. Traditionally it is an Alcohol (chemistry), alcohol-based liquid (splash), but it can be a lotion, gel, or even a paste (rheology), paste. It often contains an antiseptic agent such as denatured alcohol, stearate citrate or Witch hazel (astringent), witch hazel to prevent infection of cuts, as well as to act as an astringent to reduce skin irritation. Menthol is used in some varieties as well to numb irritated skin. An alcohol-based aftershave usually causes an immediate stinging sensation after applying it post-shave, with effects sometimes lasting several minutes, but most commonly only for seconds. Non-alcohol-based products also exist. Aftershave balms are frequently recommended for winter use as they tend to be alcohol free and lotion-like, moisturizing the skin. Denatured Alcohol
Denatured alcohol (also called methylated spirits in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, and the United Kingdom; wood spirit; and denatured rectified spirit) is ethanol that has additives to make it poisonous, bad-tasting, foul-smelling, or nauseating to discourage its recreational consumption. It is sometimes dyed so that it can be identified visually. Pyridine and methanol, each and together, make denatured alcohol poisonous; and denatonium makes it bitter. Denatured alcohol is used as a solvent and as fuel for alcohol burners and camping stoves. Because of the diversity of industrial uses for denatured alcohol, hundreds of additives and denaturing methods have been used.
