Appleton is a heavily eroded lunar impact crater that lies in the northern hemisphere on the far side of the Moon. To the northwest are the craters Von Neumann and Campbel. The smaller Golovin lies to the northeast, while further to the southwest is the Mare Moscoviense Mare Moscoviense ( ; ) is a lunar mare that sits in the Moscoviense basin. It is one of the very few maria on the far side of the Moon. Like Mare Marginis, this mare appears to be fairly thin. However, it is clearly centered within a large impact .... Old Appleton is a village in Cape Girardeau County, Missouri, United States. The population was 73 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Cape Girardeau–Jackson, MO- IL Metropolitan Statistical Area. Name The first settlement was made at Old Appleton in 1824. The community of Old Appleton was originally known as Apple Creek, named after the stream Apple Creek on which the village is located.
