The Vicariate Apostolic of Yurimaguas ( la, Apostolicus Vicariatus Yurimaguaënsis) is a Latin Church ecclesiastical territory or apostolic vicariate of the Catholic Church is located in the episcopal see of Yurimaguas in Peru. History On 27 February 1921 Pope Benedict XV established the Prefecture Apostolic of San Gabriel de la Dolorosa del Marañón from the Vicariate Apostolic of San León del Amazonas. The prefecture was elevated to a Vicariate Apostolic by Pope Pius XI on 3 June 1936. It lost territory in 1946 when the Prefecture Apostolic of San Francisco Javier was established. The vicariate's name was changed to the Vicariate Apostolic of Yurimaguas on 10 November 1960. Pope Pius XI ( it, Pio XI), born Ambrogio Damiano Achille Ratti (; 31 May 1857 – 10 February 1939), was head of the Catholic Church from 6 February 1922 to his death in February 1939. Miguel Irízar Campos C.P. (7 May 1934 – 19 August 2018) was a Spanish-born Peruvian Roman Catholic bishop. Irízar Campos was born in Ormaiztegi, Spain and was ordained to the priesthood in 1957. He served as bishop of the Apostolic Vicariate of Yurimaguas, Peru, from 1972 to 1989. The Passionists, officially named Congregation of the Passion of Jesus Christ (), abbreviated CP, is a Catholic clerical religious congregation of Pontifical Right for men, founded by Paul of the Cross in 1720 with a special emphasis on and devotion to the Passion of Jesus Christ.
