Apostolic Nunciature To The Democratic Republic Of The Congo
The Apostolic Nunciature to the Democratic Republic of the Congo is an ecclesiastical office of the Catholic Church in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It is a diplomatic post of the Holy See, whose representative is called the Apostolic Nuncio with the rank of an ambassador. The nuncio resides in the Gombe, Kinshasa district of Kinshasa, the capital city. The Holy See established its Delegation to the Belgian Congo on 10 January 1930. The Democratic Republic of the Congo gained its independence from Belgium in 1960 and the Holy See established its Nunciature to the Democratic Republic of the Congo on 16 February 1963. Lorenzo Antonetti
Lorenzo Antonetti (31 July 1922 – 10 April 2013) was a Cardinal in the Catholic Church, who held several positions in the Vatican diplomatic service. Early life and ordination Antonetti was born on 31 July 1922 in Romagnano Sesia, Italy. On 26 May 1945, at the age of 22, Antonetti was ordained priest in Novara, Italy. He did pastoral ministry in diocese of Novara in 1946. He was sent to Rome for further studies from 1947 to 1951 at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas, ''Angelicum'', where he obtained a doctorate in theology and later at the Pontifical Gregorian University also in Rome where he was awarded a doctorate in canon law. Diplomatic Missions Of The Holy See
This is a list of diplomatic missions of the Holy See. Since the fifth century, long before the founding of the Vatican City State in 1929, papal envoys (now known as nuncios) have represented the Holy See to foreign potentates. Additionally, papal representatives known not as nuncios but as apostolic delegates ensure contact between the Holy See and the Catholic Church in countries that do not have diplomatic relations with the Holy See. At present, there is one residential apostolic delegate, for Jerusalem and Palestine, as well as non-residential delegates for four countries (Brunei, Laos, Mauritania, and Somalia) and for the territories and countries without diplomatic relations with the Holy See in three regions (the Arabian Peninsula, the Caribbean, the Pacific Ocean). Ettore Balestrero (21 December 1966) is an Italian prelate of the Catholic Church who serves as the Apostolic Nunicio to the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Luis Mariano Montemayor (born 16 March 1956) is an Argentinian prelate of the Catholic Church who has worked in the diplomatic service of the Holy See since 1991. Adolfo Tito Camacho Yllana (born 6 February 1948) is a Philippine prelate of the Catholic Church who works in the diplomatic service of the Holy See. Josip Uhač ( it, Giuseppe Uhac; 20 July 1924 – 18 January 1998) was a papal diplomat and secretary of the Congregation for the Evangelization of the Peoples. Early years Uhač was born in Brseč (Moschiena) in what is now Croatia. He was educated at the seminary of Fiume, the seminary of Venice, the seminary of Gorizia, and the Pontifical Roman Seminary in Rome. He also attended the Pontifical Lateran University in Rome from 1945 to 1954 where he revived a doctorate in theology in 1951 and a doctorate in canon law in 1954.
