Ape (1976 Film)
''A*P*E'', released in South Korea as ''King Kong's Great Counterattack'' (), is a 1976 monster film. An international co-production between South Korea and the United States, the film was produced by Kukje Movies and the Lee Ming Film Co. (South Korea) and Worldwide Entertainment (U.S.) with 3-D effects. Directed by Paul Leder and featuring special effects by Park Kwang Nam, the film stars Joanna Kerns, Rod Arrants and Alex Nicol. It marked an early film appearance by Kerns, who later moved to TV movies and series. ''A*P*E'' was released at approximately the same time as Dino De Laurentiis' 1976 remake of ''King Kong''. The film is generally regarded by some critics as a campy Z movie. Paul Leder
Paul Leder (March 25, 1926 – April 9, 1996) was an American film director, writer and producer. He is most famous today for his films ''A*P*E'' and ''I Dismember Mama''. With wife Etyl Leder, he is the father of modern-day producer and director Mimi Leder, writer Reuben Leder, and casting director Geraldine Leder. Paul Leder died of lung cancer on April 8, 1996, at age 70. Early career Leder launched his career singing through radio on ''The Goldbergs (broadcast series), The Molly Goldberg Show''. During World War II, Leder was an Army medic who served under George Patton and assisted the survivors of the Buchenwald concentration camp. After the war, Leder hit Broadway theatre, Broadway, singing and dancing opposite Phil Silvers in ''Top Banana (musical), Top Banana''. More shows followed. Jules Levey (May 2, 1896 – January 2, 1975) was an American film producer. Early career Born in Rochester, New York, Levey joined Universal Pictures as Eastern sales manager in 1919 and worked for several major producers. He was in charge of sales for RKO Pictures and also headed RKO Theaters, the distributing organization. Independent Producer In 1939, Levey became an independent producer. Lee Nak-hoon
Lee Nak-hoon (March 27, 1936 – October 7, 1998) was a South Korean actor. Lee earned a fame for his characteristic and mature acting. Biography Lee Nak-hoon was born in Seoul, Korea in 1936. After graduation from Kyunggi High School in 1956, Lee studied Aesthetics at Seoul National University. When he finished his second year of the study, Lee went to the United States to history at Miami University. Lee starred in over 800 drama series, and 80 plays. Lee translated and introduced the popular US TV series, ''The Six Million Dollar Man'' and ''Columbo'' to the South Korean public. Lee also served as a member of the National Assembly from 1981 to 1985. Lee married Choe Yeong-bok (최영복) and had one son and daughter with her. Lee died of heart disease and diabetes in 1998.
