Apan Jewellers is a chain of gold and diamond jewelry stores based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It is the largest jewelry retailer in Bangladesh. History Apan Jewellers has seven branches located in Dhaka including Gulshan Thana, Uttara Thana, and Dhanmondi. Apan Real Estate Limited is the sister company of the jewelers. On 14 May 2017, the intelligence branch of Bangladesh Customs raided five branches of Apan Jewellers simultaneously in Dhaka and sealed one of them. They were being investigated for gold smuggling and tax evasion. Gulshan ( bn, গুলশান) is a thana situated in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It is an affluent residential and business neighbourhood; and is now home to a number of the city's restaurants, shopping centres, schools, banks, members' clubs and hosts the majority of embassies and high commissions in Bangladesh. Dhanmondi ( bn, ধানমন্ডি) is a residential area in Dhaka, Bangladesh, known for its central location, cultural vibrancy and being home to the country's founder, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The origins of Dhanmondi can be traced back to the late 1950s, when the Government of East Pakistan developed it as a centrally planned and residential area to house the city's top bureaucrats. Etymology Dhanmondi, today's residential area, was cultivated during the British period. But at that time there were some settlements in Dhanmondi.
