Apam Senior High School
Apam Senior High School is a co-educational senior high school at Apam in the Gomoa West District of the Central Region of Ghana founded in 1953. History Apam Senior High School, in the Zone B District of the Central region of Ghana, was established in 1953 at Paado's plains, a suburb of Apam (a coastal town in the area). The school had a very humble beginning under a cocoa shed and oak trees. It started under the management of Rev. J. W. DeGraft-Johnson as a day school with Mr. C. S. Arthur Hesse as the only teacher. In 1960, the school relocated to its present site, Mbofra mfa Adwen, with a very grand and impressive opening ceremony performed by Lord Listowel, the last Governor of the then Gold Coast, now Ghana. The development of the school that led to the adoption of the name Great Apass was achieved under the leadership and aegis of the late Dr. Peter Augustus Owiredu. Apam, Ghana
Apam is a coastal town and capital of Gomoa West District in the Central Region (Ghana), Central Region of Ghana, located approximately 45 kilometers east of the Central Region capital, Cape Coast. Apam is the site of Fort Lijdzaamheid or Fort Patience, a Dutch Empire, Dutch-built fort which was completed in 1702, which dominates the fishing harbor and town from a rocky peninsula located on the south side of the town. It was a major port prior to independence, but after Tema was built, shipping was forbidden. The town has an Odikro (Chief of the town). It is also a major town in the Gomoa Akyempem Paramountcy. There are many fishermen as fishing is the main industry. Apam has a Secondary School, an FM station, several churches and a salt-winning industry. The Benyah Lagoon is used to produce salt. The Chief Justice of Ghana is the highest-ranking judge of the Supreme Court of Ghana. The chief justice is also the head of the Judiciary of Ghana and is responsible for its administration and supervision. In order of state precedence, the chief justice is the fourth highest official in Ghana. Historical background The Supreme Court Ordinance of 1876 ended the 10-year absence of a Supreme Court, establishing a Supreme Court of Judicature for the Gold Coast Colony. The court consisted of the chief justice and not more than four puisne judges. This led to the appointment of the first chief justice, Sir David Patrick Chalmers by the British colonial authorities in 1876. The nature of the office of chief justice evolved with the years. Ato Quayson
Ato Quayson (born 26 August 1961) is a Ghanaian literary critic and Professor of English at Stanford University. He was formerly a Professor of English at New York University (NYU), and before that was University Professor of English and inaugural Director of the Centre for Diaspora Studies at the University of Toronto. His writings on African literature, postcolonial studies, disability studies, urban studies and in literary theory have been widely published. Aaron Mike Oquaye (born 4 April 1944) is a Ghanaian barrister and politician who served as the sixth Speaker of Parliament of the Fourth Republic of Ghana from 2017 to 2021. Emmanuel Nii Ashie Kotey (born 2 October 1953) is a Ghanaian judge and academic. He has been a Justice of the Supreme Court of Ghana since his appointment in 2018. Kotey was born in Osu, a suburb of Accra. After obtaining his LL.M and Ph.D. from the University of London, he enrolled at the Ghana School of Law and was subsequently called to the bar after completing his studies in 1982. Kojo Armah (27 November 1945 – 4 May 2014) was a Ghanaian diplomat, lawyer and politician.
