Aotearoa Music Award For Best Electronic Artist
The New Zealand Music Award for Best Electronic Artist is an Aotearoa Music Award that honours New Zealand artists for outstanding dance-pop and electronica recordings. The inaugural award was presented as Best Electronica Album in 2002 to Sola Rosa for their album ''Solarized''. The following year the award was renamed Best Dance Album, then in 2004 the award was again renamed, this time to Best Dance/Electronica Album. In 2010 the award reverted to Best Electronica Album, and from 2016 it became Best Electronic Album. In 2017 the award was changed to Best Electronic Artist with the entry criteria changed to require either an album or a minimum of five single releases in the eligibility period. Salmonella Dub and Concord Dawn have each won the award twice, while Shapeshifter (band), Shapeshifter has been nominated six times but won only once. Ladyhawke (musician)
Phillipa Margaret "Pip" Brown (born 13 July 1979), better known by her stage name Ladyhawke, is a New Zealand singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. She took her stage name from Richard Donner's 1985 film '' Ladyhawke''. Brown was part of the Wellington-based band Two Lane Blacktop (2001–2003), before moving to Australia where, in 2004, she formed the art rock band Teenager with Nick Littlemore of Pnau. In 2007 she moved to London, afterwards relocating to Los Angeles around 2013, and then subsequently relocating back to her native New Zealand after the release of her third album, Wild Things. Brown's debut solo album, '' Ladyhawke'', was released on 22 September 2008 through Modular Recordings, and topped the RIANZ Albums Chart. It spawned five singles of which "My Delirium" was the most successful. At the ARIA Music Awards of 2009, Ladyhawke won Breakthrough Artist in both album and single categories. 2009 New Zealand Music Awards
The 2009 New Zealand Music Awards was the 44th holding of the annual ceremony featuring awards for musical artists based in or originating from New Zealand. Finalists for the three technical awards were announced on 6 August 2009, with winners announced on 2 September at the Langham Hotel. Finalists for 14 'non-technical' categories were also revealed the same night. Five 'non-technical' awards were presented without a group of finalists being selected. The awards ceremony took place on 8 October 2009 at Vector Arena, Auckland. Broadcast live on television by C4, the ceremony was hosted by comedian Dai Henwood. ''Soulstice'' is an album released by New Zealand drum and bass band, Shapeshifter in 2006 on Truetone Recordings. The album reached No. 4 on the New Zealand Albums chart. Overview It is the third album from the group, and the first to have former part-time contributor P Digsss as a permanent feature in the group's line up. This is reflected throughout the album as many of the tracks contain vocals compared to Shapeshifter's earlier, more traditional work.
