Aodh Ó Broin
Aodh Ó Broin (Hugh Byrne), (d. 3 July 1993) was the 20th President of the Gaelic Athletic Association, president of the Gaelic Athletic Association. Born in Rathdangan, County Wicklow, he attended secondary school in Knockbeg College and went on to play in the Sigerson Cup with UCD. He won 2 Wicklow Senior Football Championships with Bray Emmets in 1934 and 1935. He became chairman of Wicklow GAA County Board in 1947, and later served as chairman of Leinster GAA. The Sigerson Cup is the trophy for the premier Gaelic football championship among Higher Education institutions (Universities, Colleges and Institutes of Technology) in Ireland. It traditionally begins in mid January and ends in late February. The Sigerson Cup competition is administered by Comhairle Ard Oideachais Cumann Lúthchleas Gael (CLG), the GAA's Higher Education Council. Bray Emmets Gaelic Athletic Association is a hurling, camogie, Gaelic football and ladies' Gaelic football club in Bray, County Wicklow, Ireland. History The first club AGM took place on 11 December 1886. The first recorded Bray Emmets team played Dalkey in a field at the Vevay in 1885. Wicklow GAA
The Wicklow County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) ( ga, Cumann Lúthchleas Gael, Coiste Chontae Cill Mhantáin) or Wicklow GAA is one of the 32 county boards of the GAA in Ireland, and is responsible for Gaelic games in County Wicklow. The county board is also responsible for the Wicklow county teams. The county football team plays in the Leinster Senior Football Championship. Wicklow has had very little success at senior level, being the only football team in the province and one of two in Ireland to have never won a senior title in either code, the other being Fermanagh. Alf Murray
Alf Murray (25 December 1915 – 12 March 1999) was an Irish Gaelic footballer who played as a right wing-forward at senior level for the Armagh county team. Murray joined the team during the 1935 championship and was a regular member of the starting fifteen for the next decade. He failed to win any silverware at senior level, however, he did win an Ulster medal at junior level in 1935. Murray had a lengthy club career with Clann Éireann. In retirement from playing Murray was involved in the administration of the GAA. He was secretary of the Armagh County Board and chairman of the Ulster Council, before serving as president of the GAA from 1964 to 1967.
