Antti Vuolas
Antti Vuolas (born 23 August 1999) is a motorcycle speedway rider from Finland. Career Vuolas twice won the bronze medal at the Finnish Individual Speedway Championship in 2018 and 2022. In 2022, he rode for Region Varde during the 2022 Danish speedway season and also appeared for Lublin in the U24 Ekstraliga. In 2023, he stayed with Region Varde for the 2023 Danish speedway season and was part of the Finland team that competed at the 2023 Speedway World Cup in Poland. In October 2023, he paired up with Timo Lahti to become the European Pairs bronze medal winner. Workington Comets
The Workington Comets are a British speedway club, based in Workington, Cumbria, racing out of the Northside Training Track. The team previously operated from 1970 to 2018 and were based at Derwent Park Stadium which they shared with Workington Town Rugby League Football Club. They were closed at the end of the 2018 SGB Championship season, but re-opened in 2022 and competed in the 2023 National Development League speedway season. History 1970–1987 The team's inaugural league season was the 1970 British League Division Two season in which they finished in 11th place. The team spent 12 years in Division 2, finishing 2nd in 1973 and 3rd in 1976. The 1987 season saw Glasgow Tigers based at Derwent Park. 2023 European Pairs Speedway Championship
The 2023 European Pairs Speedway Championship was the 20th edition of the European Pairs Speedway Championship. the final was held in Opole, Poland on 1 October. The first semi final was held at the Varkaus Speedway Stadion in Varkaus, Finland on 15 July, where defending champions Denmark were first on 21 points and qualified for the final along with Finland (20) and Great Britain (18). Sweden, Norway and a Finland/Latvia team were eliminated. The second semi final was held at the Nagyhalász Speedway Ring in Nagyhalász, Hungary on 2 September, which resulted in a win for Italy on 23 points followed by Slovenia and Latvia on 21 points. Motorcycle speedway, usually referred to simply as speedway, is a motorcycle sport involving four and sometimes up to six riders competing over four anti-clockwise laps of an oval circuit. The motorcycles are specialist machines that use only one gear and have no brakes. The 2023 FIM Speedway World Cup (SWC) was the 18th Speedway World Cup, an international motorcycle speedway world championship tournament organised by the FIM. The 2023 edition was the first since 2017 and took place between 25 July and 29 July 2023 and involved nine national teams. Poland successfully defended their 2017 title defeating Great Britain after a last heat decider. Great Britain trailed Poland by one point going into the final heat and Robert Lambert (who had only dropped one point all night) was positioned in second place with Maciej Janowski in fourth, which meant that Great Britain would take the title. Timo Lahti
Timo Lahti (born 16 July 1992) is a speedway rider from Finland. Career Lahti started his British career riding for the Eastbourne Eagles in 2011. He became the national champion of Finland after winning the Finnish Individual Speedway Championship in 2012. After a total of four seasons at Eastbourne he left after the 2014 season. He won a further five national championships from 2015 to 2019 consecutively before being deposed by Tero Aarnio. The 2024 SGB Championship season will be the 77th season of the second tier of Speedway in the United Kingdom, British Speedway and the 7th known as the SGB Championship.
