Antonio Muñoz (Spanish Politician)
Antonio Muñoz Martínez (born 29 October 1959) is a Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) politician. He has been a city councillor in Seville since 2011 and the city's mayor since 2022. Biography Born in La Rinconada, Province of Seville, Muñoz relocated to Barcelona at the age of 3 due to his father's construction work. His father was then transferred back to Andalusia, taking the family to Fuengirola; he had a brief time back in La Rinconada due to his mother's illness. He graduated in Economic and Business Sciences from the University of Málaga, where he began to affiliate with left-wing politics, joining the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) in 1983. He was elected the same year to the city council in La Rinconada, where he remained for eight years. Muñoz gained a Master of Business Administration degree from the San Telmo Business School, also in Málaga, and became director general of Tourism Planning for the Regional Government of Andalusia. La Rinconada is a municipality located in the Seville (province), province of Seville, Andalusia, Spain. 2011 Spanish Local Elections
The 2011 Spanish local elections were held on Sunday, 22 May 2011, to elect all 68,230 councillors in the 8,116 municipalities of Spain and all 1,040 seats in 38 provincial deputations. The elections were held simultaneously with regional elections in thirteen autonomous communities, as well as local elections in the three foral deputations of the Basque Country and the eleven island councils in the Balearic and Canary Islands. The days before the elections were marked by the 2011 Spanish protests which had been held in different cities across Spain since 15 May. The elections resulted in a landslide victory for the opposition People's Party (PP) and other centre-right parties, which won control of all of Spain's largest cities. Canal Sur ('South Channel') is part of Radio y Televisión de Andalucía (RTVA), the public broadcasting company of Andalusia. It was created by means of the devolved powers given to this region by an Act of Parliament in its statute of autonomy.
