Antonio Cisneros
Antonio Alfonso Cisneros Campoy was a Peruvian poet, journalist and academic. He was born in Lima on 27 December 1942 and died there of lung cancer on 6 October 2012, aged 69. Career Cisneros studied literature from 1960 to 1964 at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru in Lima and later he took a PhD at the National University of San Marcos in 1974. While still a student he began to publish his poems, including the collections ''Destierro'' (1961), ''David'' (1962) and the prize-winning ''Comentarios reales de Antonio Cisneros'' (1964), the novelty of which assured his reputation. It was further widened by ''Canto ceremonial contra un oso hormiguero'' (1968), for which he gained the Cuban Casa de las Américas Prize. That collection was the fruit of his critical involvement with the social problems of his time, but academic appointments abroad during the period of the political setbacks of socialism in Latin America kept him out of harm’s way for a while. Pablo Neruda Ibero-American Poetry Award
The Pablo Neruda Ibero-American Poetry Award ( es, Premio Iberoamericano de Poesía Pablo Neruda) is an annual award granted by the National Council of Culture and the Arts (CNCA) of Chile, through the . It was created in 2004 by agreement between the CNCA, BancoEstado (sponsor), and the (sponsor) as a tribute to the centenary of the birth of poet Pablo Neruda. It is granted annually "to an author who has a distinguished career and whose work is a notable addition to the cultural and artistic dialogue of Ibero-America." The prize consists of , a medal, and a diploma. In 2012, for the first time, its prose counterpart was presented: the Manuel Rojas Ibero-American Narrative Award, in honor of the author of ''Hijo de ladrón'', which on that occasion was won by the Brazilian Rubem Fonseca. Silva Poetry House
The Silva Poetry House is a Colombian historical cultural organization located in the Candelaria neighborhood of Bogotá. It was founded on May 24, 1986 by Belisario Betancur, in the house where the Colombian poet José Asunción Silva used to live. It has a library and a bookshop specializing in poetry, a music library, and an auditorium. The house was declared a national monument of Colombia in 1995. Characteristics The house is a private non-profit foundation whose goal is to facilitate and encourage the study, understanding and enjoyment of poetry of all times and countries.
