Antonietta Fricci (born Antonie Frietsche) (8 January 1840 – 7 September 1912) was an Austrian-born opera singer known for her performances in leading soprano and mezzo-soprano roles in the opera houses of Europe. Pietro Neri-Baraldi (1828 – 29 June 1902) was an Italian opera singer who sang leading tenor roles throughout Europe. He was born in Minerbio, a small town near Bologna and made his debut at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna in 1850. By 1853 he was engaged as the leading tenor at the Teatro del Corso where he sang in the first performances in Bologna of '' Il trovatore'' (as Manrico), '' Rigoletto'' (as the Duke of Mantua), and ''Elena da Feltre'' (as Ubaldo). He then appeared in Paris during the 1854/1855 season singing at both the Théâtre-Italien and the Paris Opéra. He sang a wide range of roles in London from 1856 to 1868, first at the Lyceum Theatre and then at the Royal Opera House. Giovanni Pacini
Giovanni Pacini (11 February 17966 December 1867) was an Italian composer, best known for his operas. Pacini was born in Catania, Sicily, the son of the buffo Luigi Pacini, who was to appear in the premieres of many of Giovanni's operas. The family was of Tuscan origin, living in Catania when the composer was born. His first 25 or so operas were written when Gioachino Rossini dominated the Italian operatic stage. But Pacini's operas were "rather superficial", a fact which, later, he candidly admitted in his ''Memoirs''.Rose 2001, in Holden, p. 650 For some years he held the post of "director of the Teatro San Carlo in Naples." The Teatro Comunale di Bologna is an opera house in Bologna, Italy. Typically, it presents eight operas with six performances during its November to April season. While there had been various theatres presenting opera in Bologna since the early 17th century, they had either fallen into disuse or burnt down. However, from the early 18th century, the ''Teatro Marsigli-Rossi'' had been presenting operatic works by popular composers of the day including Vivaldi, Gluck, and Niccolò Piccinni. Carlo Pedrotti
Carlo Pedrotti (12 November 1817 – 16 October 1893) was an Italian conductor, administrator and composer, principally of opera. An associate of Giuseppe Verdi's, he also taught two internationally renowned Italian operatic tenors, Francesco Tamagno and Alessandro Bonci. Early life Pedrotti was born in Verona, where he studied music with the composer Domenico Foroni. He composed two operas which were never performed, but his opera semiseria ''Lina'' was successfully given at Foroni's Teatro Filarmonico in 1840, and his next opera, ''Clara di Mailand'', was performed there later that year. Gaetano Coronaro
Gaetano Coronaro (18 December 1852 – 5 April 1908) was an Italian conductor, pedagogue, and composer. He was born in Vicenza and had his initial musical training there followed by study from 1871 to 1873 at the Milan Conservatory under Franco Faccio. He composed orchestral works, sacred music, and chamber pieces as well as five operas. ''La Creola'', which premiered at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna in 1878, was the only one to have any success. Coronaro had settled in Milan by 1876 where he conducted at La Scala and taught at the Milan Conservatory. In 1894 he was made professor of composition there.
