Antongona
The archaeological site of Antongona is located in the Imamo Region of Madagascar, roughly 36 km west of Antananarivo and 6 km north of Imerintsiatosika, Itasy. Site Description Antongona consists of two main groups of archaeological sites dating from between the 16th and 18th Centuries AD, spaced roughly 300 m apart. Situated on natural rock formations, stone walls and doorways augmented the inherent defensive qualities of the rock formations constructed upon. From the center of the structure, a full 360° view was obtained of the surrounding landscape, further exemplifying the defensive quality of the sites. World Heritage Sites In Madagascar
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage Sites are places of importance to cultural or natural heritage as described in the 1972 UNESCO World Heritage Convention. The sites of natural and cultural heritage in Madagascar became eligible for inclusion on the list when that state ratified the convention on July 19, 1983. The first site in Madagascar, the Strict Nature Reserve of the Tsingy of Bemaraha, was inscribed on the list as a site of natural importance at the 14th Session of the World Heritage Committee, held in Banff, Canada in 1990. This was followed by the 2001 inscription of the Royal Hill of Ambohimanga, a historic village and royal palace compound of cultural importance featuring well-preserved 19th-century palaces and numerous other natural and architectural features of historic, political and spiritual significance to the Malagasy people. Antananarivo ( French: ''Tananarive'', ), also known by its colonial shorthand form Tana, is the capital and largest city of Madagascar. Imerintsiatosika
Imerintsiatosika is a municipality in Madagascar. It belongs to the district of Arivonimamo, which is a part of Itasy Region. It is localized at 30 km west from the capital of Antananarivo on the National Road No.1. The population of the commune was estimated to be 69,953 in a 2019. 36 fokontany (villages) belong to this municipality. Primary and junior level secondary education are available in town. The majority 98% of the population of the commune are farmers, while an additional 1% receives their livelihood from raising livestock. The most important crop is rice, while other important products are vegetables, cassava and potatoes. Services provide employment for 1% of the population. There is a radio station near Imeritsitosika. It belonged formerly to the NASA. In 2021 a prison of high security was inaugurated in Imeritsitosika. Itasy
Itasy is a region in central Madagascar. It borders Analamanga region in northeast, Vakinankaratra in south and Bongolava in northwest. The capital of the region is Miarinarivo, and the population was 897,962 in 2018. It is the smallest of all the 22 regions in area with , and is the most densely populated region after Analamanga.
