Anne Klein Women's Award
The Anne Klein Women's Prize is given by the Heinrich Böll Foundation to women from anywhere in the world who are committed to gender democracy. The award was named after Anne Klein the German lawyer and State Senator. The prize includes €10,000 and is decided on by a five-member jury. Heinrich Böll Foundation
The Heinrich Böll Foundation (german: Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung e.V., HBS) is a German, legally independent political foundation. Affiliated with the German Green Party, it was founded in 1997 when three predecessors merged. The foundation was named after German writer Heinrich Böll (1917–1985). Gender Democracy
Gender democracy is a normative idea related to gender mainstreaming. Its aim is to achieve democratic conditions between men and women within society as a whole, as well as specifically within companies, bureaucracies, and other organizations. Among other things, this is realized by means of gender trainings that raise awareness of existing inequalities and develop methods to democratize relations between genders. The term gender democracy was first coined and developed by German sociologist Halina Bedkowski. Anne Klein (politician)
Anne Klein (2 March 1950 – 23 April 2011) was a German lawyer and, at the time of German reunification, a Berlin Senator. Her politics were green. Her focus as a senator was on women's rights. She was also the first Berlin senator to "go public" about being a lesbian. Life Anne Klein was born in Bilsdorf, a small village in the hills above Saarlouis, in what at that time was still part of the Saar Protectorate, controlled under conditions of growing ambiguity by the French government. There have been suggestions that her subsequent approach to gender politics may have been influenced by the 1947 Saarland Constitution, a document based on French law which incorporated elements of gender equality before the law and the concept of equal pay for equal work. Nivedita Prasad
Nivedita Prasad (born 1967) is a German sociologist and human rights activist. She is professor of methods and gender-specific social work at the Alice Salomon University of Applied Sciences Berlin, and a specialist in the human rights of migrant women. Life Prasad studied sociology at the Free University of Berlin, and gained her PhD at the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg. Since 1993 she has taught at several universities in Germany, the Netherlands and Austria. In 2012 Prasad received the first Anne Klein Women's Award, for her work on the human rights of migrant women. In 2013 she was appointed Professor at the Alice Salomon University of Applied Sciences Berlin, where she is active in social work with refugees and directs a masters' program in social work as a human rights profession. Lepa Mladjenovic ( sr, Лепа Млађеновић, Lepa Mlađenović; born 9 November 1954) is a feminist, lesbian, anti-war activist who is a pioneer of second-wave feminism in Serbia. She is a feminist counselor for women survivors of male violence or lesbophobia, a workshop facilitator, a writer and lecturer and a member of several international boards and networks which are concerned about lesbian rights and violence against women.
