Anne Karin Elstad
Anne Karin Elstad (19 January 1938 – 4 April 2012) was a Norwegian author known for her book series featuring the character ''Julie''. Biography Anne Karin Hestnes was born 19 January 1938, in Halsa to farm owner Johan Hestnes (1897–1980) and Jenny Roaldset (1900–1950), and grew up in Valsøyfjord in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. She was educated as a teacher from 1959 to 1963, and worked in the profession until 1978, before she dedicated her full-time to writing. She debuted as an author in 1976 with the novel ''Folket på Innhaug'', which is the first of four novels in a popular series about the people who lived at Innhaug. The other three titles are ''Magret'' (1977), ''Nytt rotfeste'' (1979) and ''Veiene møtes'' (1980). Elstad was also known for her four-part series about Julie. Halsa
Halsa is a former municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. The municipality existed from 1838 until 2020 when it became part of Heim Municipality in Trondelag county. It was part of the Nordmøre region. The administrative centre of Halsa was the village of Liabøen. Other villages in the municipality included Todalen, Halsanaustan, Valsøyfjord, Engan, Hjellnes, and Valsøybotnen. At the time of its dissolution in 2020, the municipality was the 279th largest by area out of the 422 municipalities in Norway. Halsa was the 349th most populous municipality in Norway with a population of 1,571. The municipality's population density was and its population has decreased by 6% over the last decade. Mads Wiel Nygaards Endowment
Mads Wiel Nygaard's Endowment is an annually awarded literary prize from the publishing house Aschehoug. The prize is a recognition of superior literary work. The publisher's editorial management makes the award based on their collective judgement of merit. Applications are not accepted. The endowment is awarded in recognition of Mads Wiel Nygaard (1898–1952). Nygaard was the chief executive officer of Aschehoug. In 1940, he replaced his father William Martin Nygaard as CEO and served in that position until his own death during November 1952. Oslo
Oslo ( , , or ; sma, Oslove) is the capital and most populous city of Norway. It constitutes both a county and a municipality. William Nygaard
William Nygaard (born 16 March 1943) is the retired head of the Norwegian publishing company Aschehoug. He was also chairman of the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation. He has two children. Business career From 1974 to 2010, he was the chief publisher of Aschehoug, Norway's second largest publishing house, which is owned by the Nygaard family. When he took this job he followed the footsteps of his father Mads Wiel Nygaard and grandfather William Martin Nygaard who was leading the company in earlier years, and the tradition continues since he left the job to his son, Mads Nygaard.
