Annan District
Annan District () is a coastal district located in the west of Tainan, Taiwan. History After the handover of Taiwan from Japan to the Republic of China in 1945, Anshun was organized as a rural township of Tainan County. In 1946, the township was incorporated into Tainan City and became Annan District. District (Taiwan)
Districts are administrative subdivisions of the Taiwan, Republic of China (Taiwan)'s special municipality (Taiwan), special municipalities of the second level and provincial city (Taiwan), provincial cities of the third level formerly under its Provinces of China, provinces. There are two types of district in the administrative scheme. Ordinary districts are governed directly by the municipality/city government with district administrators appointed by the mayors to four-year terms. Luerhmen History And Culture Museum
The Luerhmen History and Culture Museum () is a historical and cultural complex in Annan District, Tainan, Taiwan. Name ''Luerhmen'' literal meaning means deer ear gate. Architecture The museum building consists of the Luerhmen Tianhou Temple () which was built in 1604 dedicated to Mazu statue which were brought by Koxinga, Luerhmen Residence which was built with southern Fujian architectural style and Zheng Cheng-gong Heritage Museum with sets of collections about Koxinga. Events The Luerhmen Tianhou Temple, dedicated to Mazu, has invited women to serve as "fairies" responsible for performing religious rituals during the first four days of Chinese New Year every year since the 1990s. Shih Chih-ming
Shih Chih-ming (; born 29 October 1952) is a Taiwanese politician of the Kuomintang party. He served two consecutive terms as mayor of Tainan City, from 1989 to 1997. He contested the 2001 Tainan municipal election as an independent, and was not elected to the Tainan City Council. During that election cycle, Shih was indicted by the Tainan City Prosecutors' Office on corruption charges. Provincial Highway 19 (Taiwan)
Provincial Highway 19 (PH 19, ) is a north–south highway from Changhua City in Changhua County to Yongkang in Tainan City. The highway is known as Central Highway (中央公路). The highway lies between the coastal PH 17 and the inland PH 1 which serves many of the major cities in central and southern Taiwan. The total length of the highway is . Provincial Highway 17 (Taiwan)
Provincial Highway 17 (PH 17), ) is a north–south highway from Qingshui in Taichung City to Fangliao in Pingtung County. The highway is known as Western Coastal Highway (西部濱海公路) since it runs parallel to the western coasts of Taiwan. Since the completion of PH 61 expressway, which parallels PH 17, the latter now mostly handles local traffic. The total length of the highway is . Taikang Cultural Center
The Taikang Cultural Center or Taijiang Cultural Center () is a cultural center in Annan District, Tainan, Taiwan. History In 2004, the Taikang Culture Promotion Society asked for a building of Taikang Cultural Park which was located on a public land. In 2005, the Cultural Affairs Bureau of Tainan County Government started the planning to establish the Taikang Cultural Center. However, it faced difficulties in acquiring the land which resulted in the plan to be halted several times over the years. The construction for the cultural center finally began in December 2015. Taijiang National Park
Taijiang National Park () is a national park in Tainan, Taiwan. History Taijiang National Park was established in October 15, 2009. Geology The majority of the park is within the city of Tainan. In total, the park's planned area stretches from the southern sea wall of Qingshan Fishing Harbor to the south bank of the Yanshui River and is mostly public coastal land. The westernmost point on the island of Taiwan, Guosheng Port Lighthouse, is within the boundaries of the park which measures north to south and has an area of , of which land accounts for . Southwest Coast National Scenic Area
The Southwest Coast National Scenic Area () is a national scenic area in Taiwan. The scenic area, which was set up in November 2003, covers parts of Tainan City, Chiayi County, and Yunlin County. It promotes tourist attractions on land and at sea between Taiwan Highway 17 in the east, and where the ocean reaches a depth of 20 meters. It includes the main winter habitat of the black-faced spoonbill, an endangered waterbird. In addition to ecological attractions, the scenic area has several remnants of Taiwan's now-defunct salt industry. The administrative headquarters are in Beimen District, in Tainan City. Sicao Wetlands
The Sihcao Wetlands () are wetlands in Annan District, Tainan, Taiwan. They were set aside in 1994 by the Tainan City Government and consist of approximately . The protected area in Taiwan consists of mangrove swamps, salt marshes, rivers, canals, and drainage ditches. It is located in Tainan City's Annan District, and consists of the area bounded by the southeastern side of the Luermen River, the southwestern side of Xi-Bin Road, and the northern side of the Yan-Shui River. Nearby is the Tainan Salt Pan Eco-village (台南市鹽田生態文化村). Sicao Fortress
The Sicao Fortress () is a former fort in Annan District, Tainan, Taiwan. History The fortress was built during the First Opium War in 1840 during the Qing Dynasty rule of Taiwan by Commander Yao Ying to prevent British Empire troops from invading Taiwan. The fort was initially constructed as a temporary gun platform. However, later on an outer wall made of solid granite was constructed and an inner wall made of pebbles was also added.
