''Anita Garibaldi'' is a 2012 Italian television miniseries directed by Claudio Bonivento and starring Valeria Solarino in the title role. It is based on real life events of Anita Garibaldi, wife and comrade-in-arms of Italian revolutionary Giuseppe Garibaldi. It was shot between Portugal, Bulgaria and Italy, with a budget of about 6 million euros. Amedeo Minghi
Amedeo Minghi (born 12 August 1947) is an Italian singer-songwriter, composer and producer. Life and career Born in Rome, Minghi started his career in the mid-1960s participating in a large number of musical contests, and then making his professional debut in 1966 with the single "Alla fine", with lyrics by Mogol. The disappointing commercial results of the song and the military service took him away from the musical industry for several years. Following a new single in 1971, in 1973 he released his first eponymous album, with the uncredited collaboration of Francesco De Gregori. In the same years Minghi started collaborating as a composer with several artists, such as Vianella and Ricchi e Poveri. Andrea Aguyar
Andrea Aguyar, nicknamed Andrea il Moro, (?, Montevideo, Uruguay - 30 June 1849, Rome, Italy) was a former Black slave from Uruguay who became a follower of Garibaldi in both South America and Italy, and who died in defence of the revolutionary Roman Republic of 1849. In Uruguay Aguyar was born in Montevideo to black slave parents, and was a slave until his young adulthood. The abolition of slavery in Uruguay was directly linked to the outbreak of the Uruguayan Civil War in 1838. Both sides - the Liberal "Colorados" and the Conservative "Blancos" proclaimed the emancipation of slaves in 1842, in order to mobilize the former slaves to reinforce their respective military forces. During the siege of Montevideo, the newly-freed slaves, who formed a contingent 5,000 strong, and the community of foreign exiles and expatriates, were mostly responsible for the defence of the city. Ciceruacchio
Angelo Brunetti (), better known as Ciceruacchio, was a Roman popular leader who participated in the Roman Republic of 1849. Born in the Campo Marzio district of Rome, he owned a small carting business and became involved with the movement for the political unification of Italy. Having risen to a prominent position in Roman politics after the accession of Pope Pius IX, he supported the overthrow of the pope's government and the proclamation of the Republic. After the Republic's defeat by the French, Brunetti was captured and executed by the army of the Austrian Empire. Name Brunetti was known by the nickname Ciceruacchio. Writing in the ''Dizionario Biografico degli Italiani'', the historian Maria Luisa Trebiliani gives two possible explanations for the name: 1) the Roman statesman and orator Cicero, to whose eloquence Brunetti was compared, or 2) a puerile term of endearment derived from the Italian ('chubby') and the Romanesco ('piece'). Pietro Ghislandi (born 19 April 1957 in Bergamo) is an Italian actor. Goffredo Mameli (; 5 September 1827 – 6 July 1849) was an Italian patriot, poet, writer and a notable figure in the Risorgimento. He is also the author of the lyrics of "Il Canto degli Italiani", the national anthem of Italy. Biography The son of an aristocratic Sardinian people, Sardinian admiral, Mameli was from Genoa where he was born, and where his father was in command of the Naval fleet, fleet of the Kingdom of Sardinia. At the age of seven he was sent to Sardinia, to his grandfather's place, to escape the risk of cholera, but soon came back to Genoa to complete his studies. The achievements of Mameli's very short life are concentrated in only two years, during which time he played major parts in insurrectional movements and the Risorgimento. Luciano Manara
Luciano Manara (23 March 1825 – 30 June 1849) was a Milanese soldier and politician of the Risorgimento era, who took part in the Roman Republic. Life Manara was born in Milan in 1825. A friend of Carlo Cattaneo, in 1848 he participated in the Five Days of Milan (leading, among others, the operation that led to the capture of Porta Tosa) and in the First Italian War of Independence with a group of volunteers he had organised himself. On the Austrians' return, he fled to Piedmont, where he was put at the head of a corps of bersaglieri, with whom he fought on the Po and at La Cava (now renamed Cava Manara after him). Fighting in defence of the Roman Republic and as Garibaldi's chief of staff, he died aged only 24 at the battle at Villa Spada on 30 June. His funeral was held at the church of San Lorenzo in Lucina, with the homily spoken by Don Ugo Bassi.
