Animesh Debbarma
Animesh Debbarma is an Indian politician and the leader of the Tipra Motha Party. Currently he is the Leader of the Opposition of Tripura Legislative Assembly. He served as Deputy Chief Executive Member of TTAADC but resigned when he won the 2023 Tripura Legislative Assembly election and became a member of the 13th Tripura Assembly. Early life Animesh Debbarma was born in Rajnagar Village of Khowai District of Tripura. Debbarma graduated with B.Tech in Computer Science and engineering from NERIST, Arunachal Pradesh. He has worked as an engineer in Indian Oil, Mumbai for many years and CSIRO, Nagpur as a scientist for few years. He left his corporate job at the Indian Oil to join mainstream politics and became a member of the Indigenous Nationalist Party of Tripura (INPT) in and around early 2000. The Leader of the Opposition in the Tripura Legislative Assembly is an elected Member of Legislative Assembly who leads the official opposition in the Tripura Legislative Assembly. Official Opposition is a term used in Tripura Legislative Assembly to designate the political party which has secured the second largest number of seats in Tripura assembly. In order to get formal recognition, the party must have at least 10% of total membership of the Legislative Assembly. 2023 Tripura Legislative Assembly Election
2023 Tripura Legislative Assembly elections were held on 16 February 2023 to elect all 60 members of the Tripura Legislative Assembly. The votes were counted and the results were declared on 2 March 2023. The Bharatiya Janata Party won a simple majority, defeating its rivals Secular Democratic Forces and the Tipra Motha Party. Tipra Motha Party won 13 seats at its debut and became the largest opposition party in Tripura. Background The tenure of 12th Tripura Assembly is scheduled to end on 22 March 2023. 2021 Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council Election
Elections to the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) were held on 6 April 2021. 25 of the 28 elected seats in the Autonomous District Council are reserved for Scheduled Tribes. There were 865,041 eligible voters in the elections. The votes were counted on 10 April 2021 with a victory for the TIPRA-INPT alliance. The TIPRA party led alliance won 18 seats in the election while the BJP led alliance could win only 9 seats. The National Conference of Tripura (NCT) was a regional political party of the state of Tripura, India formed in December 2006 at Darjeelingpara in Teliamura. It was formed by Rabindra Kishore Debbarma, formerly of the GMP of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPIM) in Tripura, and Animesh Debbarma of Indigenous Nationalist Party of Twipra (INPT). The NCT included many disaffected members of the Twipra Students Union, the Tribal Youth Federation and the GMP of the CPIM party in Tripura, and leaders from INPT. The Indigenous Nationalist Party of Twipra (abbr. INPT) was a political party in the Indian state of Tripura. Bijoy Kumar Hrangkhawl was the President of the party. It merged with the Tipraha Indigenous Progressive Alliance (TIPRA) party on 11 June 2021. History The INPT was formed as a merger of the Indigenous People's Front of Tripura and the Tripura Upajati Juba Samiti in 2002.
