Anika Niederwieser
Anika Niederwieser (born 28 February 1992) is an Italian handballer who plays for Thüringer HC and the Italy national team. She won the Bundesliga in 2018, the DHB Supercup in 2016 and the bronze medal at the Beach Handball European Championships in 2011 and 2015 respectively. Her brother and father were handball players as well. Brixen (, ; it, Bressanone ; lld, Porsenù or ) is a town in South Tyrol, northern Italy, located about north of Bolzano. The European Handball Federation (EHF) is the umbrella organisation for European handball. Founded on 17 November 1991, it is made of 50 member federations and two associated federations (England and Scotland), and is headquartered in Vienna, Austria. Handball (also known as team handball, European handball or Olympic handball) is a team sport in which two teams of seven players each (six outcourt players and a goalkeeper) pass a ball using their hands with the aim of throwing it into the goal of the other team. The IHF Beach Handball World Championships is an international beach handball competition contested by the men's and women's national teams of the member federations/associations of International Handball Federation (IHF), the sport's global governing body. The tournament was established in 2004, taking place every two years to allow continental tournaments to flourish without the burden of the World Championship qualifiers crowding the schedule every 12 months. 2014 Beach Handball World Championships
The 2014 Beach Handball World Championships were a twelve-team tournament in both men's and women's beach handball, held at Recife, Brazil from 22–27 July, 2014. It was the sixth edition of the event. Just like two years prior, Brazil again won the gold medal in both, the men's and women's competition. Format The twelve teams were split into two groups of six teams. After playing a round-robin, the three top ranked team advanced to the Main Round. Every team kept the points from preliminary round matches against teams who also advanced. In the main round every team had 3 games against the opponents they did not face in the preliminary round. The top four teams advanced to the Semifinals. The three bottom ranked team from each preliminary round group were packed into one group.
