The Anglo-Jewish Association (AJA) is a British organisation. It was formed in 1871 for the 'promotion of social, moral, and intellectual progress among the Jews; and the obtaining of protection for those who may suffer in consequence of being Jews'. Frederick Tuckman
Frederick Augustus Tuckman OBE (9 June 1922 – 6 July 2017) was a British Conservative Party politician who served as a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) from 1979 to 1989. Early life Friedrich August Tuchmann was born in Magdeburg, Germany. He came from a wealthy Jewish family, the son of a German father and a British mother. Tuchmann attended Landschulheim Herrlingen from 1934 until 1938. In March 1939, he relocated to London, where he stayed with an uncle in Hampstead and went to Pitman's College. Tuchmann was naturalised as a British citizen and volunteered in 1942 in the Royal Air Force (RAF). He was trained as a radar technician and was later able to work in vocational education. He was demobilised in October 1946 and studied at the London School of Economics (LSE) from 1946 to 1949. In 1949 he changed his name and became Frederick (Fred) Tuckman. The American Jewish Committee (AJC) is a Jewish advocacy group established on November 11, 1906. It is one of the oldest Jewish advocacy organizations and, according to ''The New York Times'', is "widely regarded as the dean of American Jewish organizations". Lucien Wolf
Lucien Wolf (1857 in London1930) was an English Jewish journalist, diplomat, historian, and advocate of rights for Jews and other minorities. While Wolf was devoted to minority rights, he opposed Jewish nationalism as expressed in Zionism, which he regarded an incentive to anti-Semitism. In 1917 he co-founded the anti-Zionist League of British Jews. Early life He was the son of Edward Wolf, a London pipe manufacturer, and his wife Céline (born Redlich). Wolf's father was a Bohemian Jew who came to England as a political refugee after the 1848 revolution, and his mother was Viennese. Clemens Nathan
Clemens Neumann Nathan (24 August 1933 – 2 June 2015) was a German-born English businessman and philanthropist. He was a campaigner on behalf of Jewish causes, and for international human rights and interfaith dialogue. Early life Born in Hamburg, Nazi Germany on August 24,1933, Nathan came with his family to England at the age of three to escape Nazi persecution. Nathan was educated at Berkhamsted Boys School in Hertfordshire, and subsequently studied wool manufacture at the Scottish Woollen Technical College in Galashiels, Scotland. Jacob Behrens
Sir Jacob Behrens (13 November 1806 – 22 April 1889) was an Anglo–German textile merchant. His company, Sir Jacob Behrens & Son Ltd., was established in 1834 and still operates today. Behrens was Jewish and was a prominent member of the Anglo-Jewish Association. Ewen Montagu
Ewen Edward Samuel Montagu (29 March 1901 – 19 July 1985) was a British judge, Naval intelligence officer and author. He is best known for his leading role in Operation Mincemeat, a critical military deception operation which misdirected German forces' attention away from the Allied Invasion of Sicily in Operation Husky.
