Anglican Diocese Of Ideato
The Anglican Diocese of Ideato is one of twelve within the Anglican Province of Owerri, Nigeria. It is one of the fourteen provinces within the Church of Nigeria. The diocese was created out of the then Okigwe-Orlu Diocese in 1999. The current bishop is Henry Okeke; he was translated from Mbamili in 2020. History On 12 July 1999, the Diocese of Ideato was established, marking the return of the headquarters status of St. Peter's Church which was shifted to Nkwerre in 1921. Imo State
Imo State ( ig, Ȯra Imo) is a States of Nigeria, state in the South East (Nigeria), South-East geopolitical zone of Nigeria, bordered to the north by Anambra State, Rivers State to the west and south, and Abia State to the east. Owerri
Owerri ( , ) is the capital city of Imo State in Nigeria, set in the heart of Igboland. It is also the state's largest city, followed by Orlu, Okigwe and Ohaji/Egbema. Owerri consists of three Local Government Areas including Owerri Municipal, Owerri North and Owerri West, it has an estimated population of about 1,401,873 as of 2016 and is approximately in area. Owerri is bordered by the Otamiri River to the east and the Nworie River to the south. The Owerri Slogan is ''Heartland''. Arondizuogu
Arondizuogu (Aro-ndizuogu) is a town inhabited by the Igbo subgroup, the Aro people in the Imo State of Nigeria. The Arondizuogu community is believed to have migrated from Arochukwu in the present Abia State, to their current settlements in across three local governments of Imo state, which include the Okigwe, Ideato North and Onuimo Local Governments, although there are others of Aro descent in other local governments, in Imo State. Nkwerre
Nkwerre is one of the Local Government Areas of Nigeria, Local Government Areas in Imo State, South-East, Nigeria. It is situated in Nkwerre town where the name of the local government area was derived. Its population was placed at 80,270 from the 2006 population census with an area of 38.447 km. Godson Echefu
Godson Chinyere Echefu was the Anglican Bishop of Ideato in Owerri Province of the Church of Nigeria from 1999 until his retirement in 2004. Echefu was born in Nkwerre on 25 March 1934. He attended Okongwu Memorial Grammar School, Nnewi, followed by St. Paul's College, Awka until 1958. He was at Trinity Union Theological College, Umuahia from 1962 until 1964, and ordained priest in 1965. Assisted by the second Bishop of Owerri, Benjamin C. I Nwankiti, Echefu went to Crowther Hall, Birmingham, England in 1983 to undertake an advanced course in Theology. He was consecrated the first Bishop of Ideato at Christ Church, Uwari, Enugu, on 11 July 1999 by Abiodun Adetiloye, Primate of the Church of Nigeria.
