Godson Echefu
Godson Chinyere Echefu was the Anglican Bishop of Ideato in Owerri Province of the Church of Nigeria from 1999 until his retirement in 2004. Echefu was born in Nkwerre on 25 March 1934. He attended Okongwu Memorial Grammar School, Nnewi, followed by St. Paul's College, Awka until 1958. He was at Trinity Union Theological College, Umuahia from 1962 until 1964, and ordained priest in 1965. Assisted by the second Bishop of Owerri, Benjamin C. I Nwankiti, Echefu went to Crowther Hall, Birmingham, England in 1983 to undertake an advanced course in Theology. He was consecrated the first Bishop of Ideato at Christ Church, Uwari, Enugu, on 11 July 1999 by Abiodun Adetiloye, Primate of the Church of Nigeria. Bishop Of Ideato (Anglican)
The Anglican Diocese of Ideato is one of twelve within the Anglican Province of Owerri, Nigeria. It is one of the fourteen provinces within the Church of Nigeria. The diocese was created out of the then Okigwe-Orlu Diocese in 1999. The current bishop is Henry Okeke; he was translated from Mbamili in 2020. History On 12 July 1999, the Diocese of Ideato was established, marking the return of the headquarters status of St. Peter's Church which was shifted to Nkwerre in 1921. Caleb Anny Maduoma (22 September 1950 – 29 April 2021) was an Anglican bishop in Nigeria. Maduoma was the Bishop of Ideato and archbishop of the Province of Owerri until his retirement in late 2020. Joseph Abiodun Adetiloye
Joseph Abiodun Adetiloye (25 December 1929 – 14 December 2012) was the former Primate of the Church of Nigeria. He was married briefly for 11 months, until his wife's death in 1968; they had a son. Biography His father, who was a devout Christian, died when Adetiloye was aged 3 years old, and he and his siblings were raised by his mother. He entered school in 1937 and it was reported that "he was always neat in school each day despite the fact that he had only one uniform". He decided to become an Anglican priest at a very young age. He passed with distinction is first school leaving examination in 1944 and was a teacher for 6 years. He was the acting church agent at St. Paul's Church in Ara-Yero, now called Araromi at his 6th year. He decided to attend Melville Hall, in Kudeti, Ibadan, in 1949, to become a priest.
