Angela Bruce
Angela Bruce (born 6 May 1951) is an English actress, noted for her television work. Bruce was born in Leeds, West Riding of Yorkshire to a West Indian father and white mother, but was put up for adoption aged three, and brought up in Craghead, County Durham. Bruce made her screen debut in the 1973 film ''Man at the Top (film), Man at the Top'', and on the London stage she was the second actress to play Magenta in the original production of ''The Rocky Horror Show'', succeeding Patricia Quinn (Northern Irish actress), Patricia Quinn. Regular or recurring roles in television series include Sandra Ling in ''Angels (TV series), Angels'' (1975–83), Janice Stubbs in ''Coronation Street'' (1978) and reporter Chrissie Stuart in ''Press Gang'' (1989–90). In 1980, she appeared in "Charlie Boy", an episode of ''Hammer House of Horror''. Leeds () is a city and the administrative centre of the City of Leeds district in West Yorkshire, England. It is built around the River Aire and is in the eastern foothills of the Pennines. ''Mrs Caldicot's Cabbage War'' is a 2002 British comedy-drama film, directed by Ian Sharp and starring Pauline Collins, John Alderton and Peter Capaldi. It is based on a 1993 novel with the same name by author and conspiracy theorist Vernon Coleman. It is the story about a woman, Thelma Caldicot, who is coerced by her manipulative son Derek and daughter-in-law to move into a run-down nursing home, owned by Derek's employer, after the death of her bullying husband. Derek also gets her to sign over her house to him. However, she doesn't like it at the nursing home and shows her frustration. After having been medicated by the staff to stay calm, she finally incites her fellow inmates to revolt.
