Bořivoj Zeman
Bořivoj Zeman (6 March 1912 – 23 December 1991) was a Czechs, Czech film director and screenwriter. Biography Originally a clerk by profession, he started by writing short film scripts just for himself. His real film work began in 1940's in Hostivař Studios in Prague, as well as in film studios in Zlín, where he worked briefly with Karel Zeman, whom he assisted in directing a 1945 short film ''A Christmas Dream.'' However, he is mainly known for his two comedies ''Dovolená s Andělem'' and ''Anděl na horách'', both starring Jaroslav Marvan in a role of an auditor of Prague public transport companies. In addition to his film comedies, he is also known for his work for children. He made the first movie fairy tale in Czechoslovakia, ''The Proud Princess'', starring Vladimír Ráž and Alena Vránová. Stella Zázvorková (14 April 1922 – 18 May 2005) was a Czech actress from Prague. Zázvorková, an alumnus of Prague's theatre school of E.F. Burian, appeared in more than a hundred films and series. She was married to the actor Miloš Kopecký. František Filipovský (23 September 1907 – 26 October 1993) was a Czechoslovak stage, television, and film actor. Life and career Early life and theatre Filipovský was born on 23 September 1907 in the Czech town of Přelouč, then part of Austria-Hungary. His father was musician František Filipovský Sr., who was 62 by the time his son was born. The young Filipovský was interested in acting from an early age and began performing in theatre in the 1930s, with stints in Emil František Burian's Voice-band, as well as Osvobozené divadlo. Among other engagements, he worked as stage director in Jára Kohout's Divadlo U Nováků in 1939, later moving to Švandovo divadlo, and eventually holding a post at Prague's National Theatre. Jan Roth
Jan Roth (10 November 1899 – 4 October 1972) was a Czech cinematographer. During World War I he served in the Austro-Hungarian Navy. Roth started his career as a lighting technician at the New German theatre in Prague. In 1926 he became a chief lighting technician at Karel Lamač's Kavalírka film studio. Roth later served as Otto Heller's assistant on Lamač's films. In 1934 he started to work as a cameraman. He soon became of the most prolific cinematographers of the Czechoslovak cinema. Following the German occupation of Czechoslovakia in 1939 he continued to work for both Czech and German productions at Barrandov Studios. Roth often collaborated with directors Otakar Vávra and Martin Frič. He was noted for his ability to create Chiaroscuro effects.
