Andrés Manuel Díaz
Andrés Manuel Díaz (born 12 July 1969 in A Coruña) is a former Spanish middle-distance runner. He represented Spain at the Olympics in 1996 and 2000 and was the bronze medallist over 1500 metres at the 1999 IAAF World Indoor Championships. His personal best outdoors is 3:31.48 minutes, but it was indoors where he excelled – his time of 3:33.32 minutes was the European indoor record until 2021. Career His first international appearances came in 1995, when he reached the semi-finals of the 1995 IAAF World Indoor Championships and ran in the heats of the 1995 World Championships in Athletics. He won the silver medal at the 1995 Summer Universiade behind Hezekiél Sepeng. His Olympic debut came at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, although he was knocked out in the first round of the 800 m. At the 1995 Summer Universiade, the athletics events were held at the Hakatanomori Athletic Stadium in Fukuoka, Japan from 29 August to 3 September. A total of 43 events were contested, of which 23 by male and 20 by female athletes. The medal table ended closely, with the United States, Russia and host nation Japan each winning five gold medals. The United States had the highest number of silver medals (six) while Russia had the largest medal haul with sixteen medals in total. Haile Gebrselassie ( am, ኀይሌ ገብረ ሥላሴ, ''haylē gebre silassē''; born 18 April 1973) is an Ethiopian retired long-distance track, road running athlete, and businessman. He triumphed in the Berlin Marathon four times consecutively and also had three straight wins at the Dubai Marathon. Peter Elliott (athlete)
Peter Elliott (born 9 October 1962 in Rotherham, Yorkshire) is a former middle-distance runner from the United Kingdom. During his career, he won the gold medal in the 1500 metres at the 1990 Commonwealth Games, the silver medal in the 1500 metres at the 1988 Olympic Games, and the silver medal in the 800 metres at the 1987 World Championships. Biography Elliott was brought up in Rawmarsh, near Rotherham, in the then West Riding of Yorkshire. The 1998 IAAF Grand Prix Final was the fourteenth edition of the season-ending competition for the IAAF Grand Prix track and field circuit, organised by the International Association of Athletics Federations. It was held on 5 September at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow, Russia. Hicham El Guerrouj (1500 metres) and Marion Jones (100 metres and long jump) were the overall points winners of the tournament.
