Andrés Isasi
Andrés Isasi Linares (1890 in Bilbao – 1940) was a Basque composer. Carlos Mena
Carlos Mena (born 1971) is a Spanish countertenor opera singer. He has previously worked with groups such as Al Ayre Español, Ensemble Gilles Binchois, and Ricercar Consort and has an interest in the twentieth-century repertoire. Life and career Carlos Mena initially worked as a countertenor in masterclasses with Charles Brett and then relocated to Switzerland in 1992 to study a Diploma of Reinaissance-Baroque Music at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in Basel. His teachers here were Richard Levitt and René Jacobs, and he was awarded the diploma in 1997. His operatic performances have included Handel's '' Radamisto'' (title role), Monteverdi's ''L'Orfeo'' (Speranza), Handel's ''Il Trionfo del Tempo e del Disinganno'' (Disinganno), and John Cage's ''Europera 5''. Juan José Mena
Juanjo Mena (also known as Juan José Mena; born 21 September 1965, Vitoria-Gasteiz, Basque Country, Spain) is a Spanish conductor. Biography Mena began his music studies at the Vitoria-Gasteiz Conservatory. He later attended the Madrid Royal Conservatory, where his teachers included Carmelo Bernaola (composition and orchestration) and Enrique García Asensio (conducting). He also studied conducting with Sergiu Celibidache in Munich on a Guridi-Bernaola scholarship. In 1997, the Basque Government selected Mena to form the Youth Orchestra of Euskal Herria. He subsequently became associate conductor of the Euskadi Symphony Orchestra. From 1999 to 2008, Mena was artistic director and principal conductor of the Bilbao Symphony Orchestra. With the Bilbao orchestra, he conducted commercial recordings for Naxos Records of music by Jesús Guridi and Andrés Isasi.
