Beauce-Nord is a provincial electoral district in the Chaudière-Appalaches region of Quebec, Canada that elects members to the National Assembly of Quebec. It includes notably the municipalities of Sainte-Marie, Saint-Lambert-de-Lauzon, Beauceville, Saint-Joseph-de-Beauce and Saint-Isidore. It was created along with Beauce-Sud for the 1973 election from parts of Beauce. It also took parts from Dorchester and Lévis electoral districts. Janvier Grondin
Janvier Grondin (born June 16, 1947 in Saint-Jules, Quebec) is a former politician in the province of Quebec, Canada. He represented the Beauce-Nord district at the National Assembly of Quebec until 2012 as a member of the Coalition Avenir Québec. He previously represented the riding as a member of the now defunct Action démocratique du Québec (ADQ), before the ADQ merged with the CAQ in January 2012. Prior to being elected, he served as mayor of Saint-Jules (Beauce) from 1993 to 2003. He was also an administrator for the Union des producteurs agricoles (UPA), the vice-president of Régie Intermunicipale Beauce, the president of the CLSC Beauce-Centre and an administrator for the Saint-Jules Chamber of Commerce Grondin was first elected as a Member of the National Assembly in the 2003 election, with 46% of the vote. The 2012 Quebec general election took place in the Canadian province of Quebec on September 4, 2012. Lieutenant Governor Pierre Duchesne dissolved the National Assembly on August 1, 2012, following Premier Jean Charest's request. The Parti Québécois were elected to a minority government, with Pauline Marois becoming the first woman to be Premier of Quebec. The Quebec Liberal Party took second place, with Premier Jean Charest losing his seat. The newly formed party Coalition Avenir Québec led by François Legault took third place, while Québec solidaire took 2 seats out of the 125. It was the first time since 2007 (and only the third time in Quebec history) that a minority government would be formed, as no party won an absolute majority of the seats. The 2014 Quebec general election was held on April 7, 2014 to elect members to the National Assembly of Quebec.
