Andrew Smith (born December 14, 1992) is an American-Latvian professional basketball player for BC Luleå. Smith played for the Liberty Flames team for four years as a collegiate. College career Smith attended Liberty University. As a senior, he averaged 9.6 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. Smith scored a career-high 21 points against Longwood on February 17, 2015. He finished his career with 737 points and 558 rebounds. Professional career In August 2015, Smith signed with Jūrmala of the Latvian league. On July 18, 2016, Smith signed a 1-year contract with Donar of the Dutch Basketball League. In July 2017, Smith signed with Rasta Vechta of the German second division ProA. With Rasta, Smith won the ProA championship and gained promotion to the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL). On July 3, 2019, Smith was announced by Södertälje Kings for the 2019–20 season. The 2016–17 NBB Cup ( nl, 2016–17 NBB-Beker) was the 49th edition of the Netherlands' national basketball cup tournament. Donar (basketball club), Donar won its fifth national cup title. 2019–20 Dutch Basketball League
The 2019–20 Dutch Basketball League (DBL) was the 60th season of the Dutch Basketball League, the highest professional basketball league in the Netherlands. The regular season started on 28 September. On 12 March 2020, the season was postponed until 31 March because of the COVID-19 pandemic. On 14 March, the DBL announced to suspend the competition to at least 2 May. On 20 March, the DBL cancelled the rest of the season while naming no champion. Landstede Hammers qualified for the Basketball Champions League (BCL) based on the standings at the time. Format changes From this season, the DBL adopted FIBA's home-grown players rule. The Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) (English language: ''Federal Basketball League''), for sponsorship reasons named easyCredit BBL, is the highest level league of professional club basketball in Germany. The league comprises 18 teams. A BBL season is split into a league stage and a playoff stage. At the end of the league stage, the top eight teams qualify for the playoff stage, and the teams positioned in the 17th and 18th places are relegated to a lower-tier league. The playoffs are played in a "Best of five" format. The winning team of the final round are crowned the German Champions of that season.
