Andrew Slack
Andrew Gerard Slack (born 24 September 1955 in Brisbane) is an Australian former state and national representative rugby union player who captained the Wallabies in 19 Test matches in between 1984 and 1987. His 133 appearances for Queensland between 1975 and 1987 stood as the state record until bettered by Mark Connors in 2006. He made 87 total appearances for Australia between 1978 and 1987, earning 39 Test caps. He scored 10 tries and captained Australia on 34 occasions in total. He was the tour captain for the Wallabies' 1984 tour Grand Slam feat. Early rugby Andrew Slack attended school at Villanova College, Coorparoo, Queensland. David Ian Campese, AM (born 21 October 1962), also known as Campo, is a former Australian rugby union player (1982-1996), who was capped by the Wallabies 101 times, and played 85 Tests at wing and 16 at fullback. 2022 Ireland Rugby Union Tour Of New Zealand
In July 2022, Ireland played a three-Test series against New Zealand as part of the 2022 mid-year rugby union internationals. Ireland also played two matches against the Māori All Blacks. This was Ireland's first tour since their tour to Australia in 2018, their first tour to New Zealand since 2012, and their first encounter against New Zealand since November 2021. In the first Test, at Auckland’s Eden Park, New Zealand comfortably beat the visitors 42-19. In the second Test, in Dunedin, Ireland prevailed by 23-12 scoring their first victory against the All Blacks on New Zealand soil, their fourth win over New Zealand. The following week Ireland became just the fifth touring side to achieve a series win in New Zealand, beating the All Blacks 32-22 in Wellington for a 2–1 series victory. Johnny Sexton
Jonathan Jeremiah Sexton (born 11 July 1985) is an Irish rugby union player who plays as a fly-half for Leinster Rugby and Ireland, and he also captains both teams. He represented the British & Irish Lions in both 2013 and 2017 and has scored over 1,000 points in his international career, making him one of the highest points-scorers in rugby union history. Philippe Saint-André
Philippe Georges Saint-André (; born 19 April 1967) is a former French rugby union footballer and currently the manager of Top 14 side Montpellier. He earned 69 test caps for France between 1990 and 1997. His preferred position was wing but he could also play at centre. After retiring, Saint-André has found success as a rugby coach in both England and France. He was serving as director of rugby at Toulon before being announced as the successful candidate for head coach of France from 2011 to 2015. He formally took charge of the national team on 1 December 2011, and left his post on 17 October 2015 following a 13–62 loss to New Zealand. 1971 British Lions Tour To New Zealand And Australia
In 1971 the Lions toured New Zealand, also playing two matches in Australia. Despite losing the first match to Queensland the tour was a great success, the Lions winning the Test series against the All Blacks. They are still the only Lions side to have won a Test series in New Zealand. The side was captained by John Dawes, coached by Carwyn James and managed by Doug Smith. Background Although the Lions had done poorly when touring New Zealand in 1966 (they lost all four Tests to the All Blacks), the seeds had been sown for the successful series of 1971. Wales had won the Grand Slam in the Five Nations Championship in 1971, and appropriately supplied more players than any other home nation to the touring squad. John Dawes
Sydney John Dawes (29 June 194016 April 2021) was a Welsh rugby union player, playing at centre, and later coach. He captained London Welsh, Wales, the 1971 British Lions and the Barbarians. He is credited with being a major influence in these teams' success, and in the attractive, attacking, free-flowing rugby they played. Dawes also had considerable success as a coach with Wales, and coached the 1977 British Lions. He was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 1972 New Year Honours List for services as Lions captain. The 1949 Australia rugby union tour of New Zealand was a series of 12 rugby union matches played by the "Wallabies" in 1949. The Australians lost only one match, and won the Test series 2-0. At the same time, a 30-man All Black squad was touring South Africa. On 3 September 1949, New Zealand lost two test matches on the same day - one in South Africa, the other at home to Australia. "The New Zealand Rugby Union ... decided that the 1949 matches against Australia would have full test status, even though the country's top 30 players were in South Africa. Trevor Allan (rugby)
Trevor Allan OAM (26 September 1926 – 27 January 2007) was an Australian dual-code rugby international who captained Australia in rugby union before switching to rugby league with English club Leigh. Rugby union club career A North Sydney rugby union junior, Allan's senior career was with the Gordon rugby club in Sydney where his father was a coach. Phil Tressider described him as a fine running centre with powerful acceleration once he got outside a rival. His forte was the muscle he would add to a back-line with his fierce tackling. He had strength beyond his years and slight physique.
